Ive been hunting for a solid Chrome extension to help me snag some deals on sneakers lately. I tried Honey but it misses a lot of the actual codes for the specific shoe sites I like and Rakuten is okay but I honestly dont want to wait months for a check in the mail... I want the discount upfront. Im a student in Seattle so my budget is super tight and I really need a new pair of boots before the rain gets bad next month.

My needs are:

  • works on Nike and smaller sneaker shops
  • alerts me to price drops immediately
  • doesnt slow down my browser
  • free to use

Does anyone use one that works for shoes specifically or am I just dreaming...

Honestly, most of these generic coupon extensions are pretty disappointing once you actually look at the performance data. Ive tested a bunch and they basically just sit there eating up 200MB of RAM while doing almost nothing. Most of the active codes Honey or Rakuten find are actually just expired placeholders that cause errors at checkout... super frustrating when youre trying to grab a pair of boots before they sell out. I had major issues with extensions that claim to track price drops but actually rely on cached data that can be hours old. By the time you get the alert, the size 10s are gone. If youre really worried about your budget and browser speed, you gotta watch out for:

  • High background script execution that lags your tabs
  • Shady data-sharing permissions that track your whole history
  • Fake deal notifications that are actually just affiliate ads Unfortunately, most of the big names are bloatware now. For specific sneaker sites, you need something that monitors the direct page source for price changes. I personally had better luck using this Nike price tracker since it seems to handle the specific backend changes Nike makes better than the generic scrapers. Its not perfect, and I still think the sneaker market is a mess right now, but at least it doesnt kill my laptop speed like the others. Just dont expect a miracle on every single site because some smaller shops actively block these scrapers to prevent botting.

Over the years I've found Capital One Shopping usually catches what Honey misses on sneaker sites.

  • Solid Nike codes
  • Instant price alerts
  • Very lightweight
