@4555e Best CFexpress Type-B card I have used.

I've used both SanDisk and Angelbird cards, with Angelbird being my current preference. For 8K capture, a CFexpress card is essential due to higher bandwidth requirements. For the secondary slot, a V90-rated SDXC UHS-II card is recommended.

Sustained write speed is crucial; Angelbird prominently displays this information, unlike SanDisk. Always use full-sized cards, avoiding adapters. Consider sustained read speeds for faster transfers to your computer, though this depends on your setup.

Invest in a backup solution, especially for CFexpress-only recordings. The EOS R5 Mark II's dual card slots allow photo backups, but not for all video formats. Portable drives with card readers can facilitate backups.

Highly recommend the Lexar Professional Silver SE CFexpress Type B card. It is perfect for 4K and experimental 8K video recording, while also accommodating a full vacation's worth of uncompressed RAW photos. Performance tests on my MacBook Pro yielded impressive results: 1460 Mbps write and 770 Mbps read speeds with a 1GB file, and 890 Mbps write and 750 Mbps read speeds with a 5GB file. It effortlessly handles any task I throw at it, especially when paired with my R5's large buffer. Although I snagged it during a Prime Day deal, it's worth every penny even at full price. A fantastic investment and definite keeper for my digital storage needs.

Don't forget about having a backup strategy! I always carry both CFexpress and SD cards. The R5 Mark II's dual slot setup is a lifesaver. I'll put a fast CFexpress in slot 1 for primary recording and a good quality SD card in slot 2 for backup. Brands like Samsung and SanDisk make excellent SD cards that can handle overflow if your CFexpress fills up mid-shoot.

Good to know!

For best results, select V90 UHS-II SD cards, with ProGrade and Sandisk being premier options. Regarding CFExpress, Sandisk and ProGrade cards exceed requirements, guaranteeing efficient data transfer and storage for your device.

Lexar, SanDisk, Angelbird are all good CFexpress Type B card companies.

CFexpress Type B cards enhance action photography with faster buffer clearing and longer bursts. They're worth considering to fully utilize the R5 Mark II's high-end capabilities.

Sony CFexpress Tough cards offer blazing 1,700 MB/s speeds, ideal for wildlife photography like birds in flight. They're expensive but effective. Remember to pack extra batteries due to high power consumption.

I recommend CF Express. I use a 1TB OWC in my R3, keeping it under capacity for reliability. I avoid using SD cards completely in both my R3 and R5. Though OWC seemed unfamiliar initially, it's proven reliable. My 128GB Black Delkins also perform well.

Recently, I filled 800GB shooting a volleyball tournament in 4K on my OWC card.

After experiencing corruption with a Lexar SD card, I've blacklisted that brand.

While Sony Tough cards are arguably the best choice, they weren't in my budget.

Consider quality memory cards an investment in protecting your work.
