EOS R1 supports CFexpress Type B cards, so the best choice is the Lexar Professional Silver SE CFexpress Type-B.

Any CFexpress TYPE B cards are OK for EOS R1. I personally love the Angelbird AV PRO CFexpress B SE, it is very stable and fast.

Hey, congrats on the R1. I've been shooting with Canon pro bodies for a long time and found that the R1 really needs cards that can handle heat and high sustained writes. Here's what I'm currently using with zero complaints:

  • ProGrade Digital CFexpress Type B Gold 512GB is basically the gold standard for me right now. They're more reliable than SanDisk in my experience and the price is usually better too.
  • Sony Tough CFexpress Type B 256GB is great if you're worried about physical durability. It feels like a tank and the write speeds are very consistent for 4K and 8K. Tbh the ProGrade cards just seem to play nicer with Canon's firmware. You'll want something with a high sustained write speed, not just the peak speed they put on the sticker. Reach out if you're stuck on which size to get!
