Ngl I've been looking into this too and tbh I'm always a bit nervous about buying from random sites just to save a few bucks because reliability is basically everything when you're spending this much on a camera. IIRC there are a few other places to check that are actually safe and authorized so you don't get scammed or end up with a grey market unit without a warranty which would be a nightmare. I think these are usually solid options for safety:
* The official Canon Refurbished store (they basically look brand new and still have a warranty afaik)
* Canon Price Watch (CPW) — I heard they have "street prices" that are lower but still come from legit dealers?
* Maybe check local authorized shops because sometimes they have open-box units that are way cheaper but still safe to buy. Not 100% sure if the prices are lower right this second or if we have to wait for another holiday but those spots seem way more reliable than just googling for the lowest price and hoping for the best because I've heard some horror stories about fake sites lately.
100% agree
@Reply #4 - good point! Honestly tho, I have been feeling pretty disappointed with Canon pricing lately. Its not as good as expected compared to the competition. Sony and Nikon have been much more aggressive with their discounts, so its kinda a bummer seeing Canon hold so firm on prices. I want to help you find the best path, but I need to know a bit more first:
