So I finally pulled the trigger on the R6 and man it feels great in the hand but now Im staring at my empty bank account and realizing I forgot to budget for all the extra stuff to actually make it work for a job. I have a wedding to shoot in Austin in about three weeks so I gotta get this sorted fast before the big day. I still have some old EF glass so an adapter is priority number one but I cant decide if the Control Ring adapter is actually worth the extra sixty bucks or if I should just stick with the basic one. I like the idea of changing ISO on the fly but maybe it's just a gimmick?
Then theres the memory card situation. I'm torn between getting one fast Sony Tough V90 card or two slower Lexar V60 cards for the same price. I dont want the buffer to hang up during the ceremony but having that second slot for redundancy feels safer for a paid gig. Plus I definitely need extra juice. The Canon LP-E6NH batteries are so expensive right now like $80 each which is crazy. Im looking at those Wasabi power dual packs which are way cheaper but I've heard horror stories about them swelling or the camera not reading the charge level correctly.
My total budget for accessories is roughly $400 for now. What would you guys prioritize?
I really dont want to have gear failure on my first big shoot with this thing...
OMG you definitely need that second slot for a wedding! I once had a single card fail mid-ceremony and it was the scariest moment ever!! Total nightmare... honestly I almost cried.
^ This. Also, the Canon Control Ring Mount Adapter EF-EOS R is absolutely worth the extra cash for weddings! Mapping ISO to the ring is fantastic when youre moving fast between different lighting scenarios.
