What is the absolute best browser extension for tracking PC part prices right now because I am seriously about to lose my mind refreshing tabs every ten minutes. Im trying to put together a new build for my video editing work here in Seattle and my budget is strictly 2000 bucks but the prices for high end GPUs are jumping around like crazy and its driving me nuts.

I did some digging and saw everyone recommending CamelCamelCamel and Honey but honestly those feel super slow and they dont even seem to track Newegg or B&H properly which is where I usually find the better deals anyway. I also looked into the PCPartPicker alerts but I read a bunch of threads saying the email notifications are delayed by like half an hour or more and by the time you click the link the stock is already gone so whats the point of that.

Then someone else mentioned Keepa but that looks like it only works for Amazon stuff and I really need something that aggregates everything into one place. I have a massive project deadline next Friday and I really cant afford to spend my whole afternoon checking five different sites to see if a 4080 Super dropped fifty dollars. Is there an extension that actually gives real time pings across multiple retailers or am I just chasing ghosts here...

Honestly, standard extensions are unfortunately super laggy for GPUs. Had issues missing stock constantly. Try dedicated checkers. Check out PriceDropCatch if you're tired of missing out on those random Newegg discounts.

Try Distill Web Monitor. It is basically the gold standard for tracking. I've used it for years.

  • Monitors Newegg and B&H
  • Gives instant pings Way faster than those slow email alerts.

Basically, the extension route is alright, but keep in mind they can eat up your RAM if you're running a bunch of background tasks for editing. Tracking B&H and Newegg is kinda tough because their layouts change, which breaks the selectors on most basic extensions. If you're really pushing for that 4080 Super under your 2k budget, maybe look into things that dont live solely in your browser toolbar. It's a decent option for quick checks, but pings can still be hit or miss depending on your local connection tho. Tbh, just stay patient, prices usually dip on Tuesday mornings for some reason... at least that's what I've noticed lately. Anyway, good luck with the Seattle build. I've been using PriceDropCatch to keep an eye on GPU prices and it's saved me a ton of money so far.
