Hey everyone!

Just got my hands on the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Creator Combo, and I'm absolutely loving it so far! The screen is gorgeous, and the gimbal is incredibly smooth. However, it's also crystal clear how delicate this little guy is, especially that rotating screen and the gimbal mechanism itself. I’m starting to plan some upcoming trips and even just daily outings where it’ll be in my backpack, and the standard fabric pouch it comes with just isn't giving me much peace of mind for proper, robust protection.

I'm really keen to find a dedicated travel case that offers serious impact protection, ideally hard-shell or semi-hard, to keep it safe from bumps, drops, and scratches. I'm looking for something that can securely fit the Osmo Pocket 3 itself, along with the Wide-Angle Lens, the Battery Handle, and ideally the DJI Mic 2 transmitter without everything rattling around or being overly bulky. Water resistance would be a huge bonus for those unexpected drizzles while out and about. I’ve seen a few generic cases online, but I'm really hoping for recommendations from people who've actually used cases designed specifically for the OP3 and its essential accessories, ensuring a snug and safe fit. My main concern is that delicate gimbal arm not getting stressed.

What are your go-to travel cases for the DJI Osmo Pocket 3? Any specific brands or models that stand out for their build quality, internal organization, and overall protective capabilities?

Hey! So, oh man, I totally get you, that rotating screen and gimbal are kinda delicate! I was honestly in the same boat. For serious protection, I've been loving the PGYTECH P-OS3-02 Osmo Pocket 3 Carrying Case. It's a semi-hard shell, super snug for the OP3, mic, wide-angle, and battery handle. Everything just clicks in, no rattling around, which is crucial for that gimbal! Plus, it's got decent water resistance, you know, for unexpected drizzles. Def worth checking out!

Yo! Honestly, for a budget pick, I've looked at the STARTRC Mini Portable Hard Case for DJI Osmo Pocket 3. It's pretty compact and cheap, like, good enough for backpack bumps without breaking the bank.

Just spent an hour digging through the material specs and unfortunately most of these molded cases just arent as good as expected when you look at the actual g-force ratings. I had issues with the fitment on the generic ones because they dont secure the gimbal axis properly. Honestly, go with Pelican Small Hard Case and just pluck the foam yourself. You cant go wrong with a high-density polymer shell. Just get any of their utility sizes and customize it. It's way more robust than these cheap retail options that prioritize aesthetics over actual structural integrity.

{ "body": "Yo! That's awesome you snagged the Creator Combo! Totally get the concern about that delicate gimbal and screen. While the PGYTECH case is solid – as mentioned above – I've looked into a couple of other robust options that offer serious peace of mind. I mean, you realy don't wanna risk that gimbal. Pro tip: For *serious* protection, it's not just the hard shell itself, it's the internal custom-cut foam that truly prevents stress on the gimbal arm during bumps. Check out these two alternatives for comparison, they're both pretty good resources for what you're after: * **STARTRC Hard [[PRODUCT:Shell Carrying Case for DJI Osmo Pocket 3

So yeah, I totally get it! You dont wanna stress that gimbal; I learned hard way – custom foam in my case was literally a game-changer for protecting the screen and axis, seriously!

Basically I've been researching the technical specs of different foam densities for a DIY project. Tbh even if you find a cool case, you might wanna modify it yourself, but there are some big mistakes to avoid. I am still learning about this stuff, but the data on gimbal protection is pretty specific. If you go the DIY route or try to mod a generic shell, here are some things that could go wrong:

  • Watch out for the Shore A hardness rating of the foam because if its too high, it wont dampen the high-frequency vibrations during travel, which is bad for the sensors.
  • Dont use open-cell foam if you live somewhere humid because it acts like a sponge and can trap moisture right against the lens or the screen hinge.
  • Make sure the gimbal lock position has at least a 2mm clearance in your cutout so the axis motors dont get stressed if the case gets squeezed in your bag.
  • I read that some cheap foams off-gas chemicals that can actualy foggy up the glass over time, which sounds crazy right? Its realy scary trying to DIY it when the camera is so expensive. Have you guys checked if the foam your using is anti-static? I think thats something alot of people miss when they try to save money on a custom fit.
