I just got a DJI Mini 4 Pro and love it! I’m taking it on a hiking trip soon and want to be fully prepared. I have the Fly More batteries, but should I grab ND filters or a better hard case? What are the absolute must-have accessories you’d recommend for high-quality shots and protection?

yo, congrats on the new drone! honestly, the mini 4 pro is such a beast. i take mine hiking all the time and i'm super satisfied with how it handles. since youre hitting the trails, you definitely gotta think about weight vs protection. i mean, a heavy case is great but after 5 miles? your back will hate you lol. here is what i recommend based on my experience: * **ND Filters:** these are basically non-negotiable for high-quality shots. i use the DJI Mini 4 Pro ND Filters Set (ND16/64/256) and they work so well for keeping that shutter speed double your frame rate. seriouslyyy makes your footage look pro.
* **Storage:** dont risk a slow card. i use the SanDisk 256GB Extreme microSDXC UHS-I V30 Memory Card cuz it handles 4k/60 without any issues. it’s pretty cheap for the peace of mind you get.
* **Protection:** i actually ditched the bulky hard case for a compact one when hiking. but for travel, the Lykus Titan MM410 Hard Case for DJI Mini 4 Pro is a lowkey steal. it’s tough as nails and way better value than the branded ones.
* **Screen Protection:** if you have the RC 2, get a HeiyRC Tempered Glass Screen Protector for DJI RC 2. it’s a few bucks and saved my screen from a nasty scratch last month... lucky me! anyway, definitely grab the filters first. they change the game for video because they let you use natural motion blur instead of that choppy look you get in bright sun. plus, they're super light and wont take up space in your pack. gl on the trip! 👍

To add to the point above: honestly, after years of hiking with drones, the most underrated thing is a decent lanyard. If you're on a narrow trail or near a ledge, you don't want to drop the DJI RC 2 because your hands are sweaty or you tripped. I use the SmallRig Shoulder Strap for DJI RC 2 and it basically stays glued to me now. Few other things for reliability:

  • Anker 737 Power Bank PowerCore 24K - this thing is a tank and will actually charge your batteries fast enough to keep you in the air.
  • DJI Mini 4 Pro Propeller Holder - seriously, dont just toss the drone in your pack without this or you'll end up with bent props.
  • Peak Design Everyday Sling 6L - if you want something more comfortable than a bulky hard case for long hikes, this is it. In my experience, keeping it simple is key. I'd skip the heavy hard case for hiking and just get that propeller holder to protect the motors while it's in your bag. Ive tried many setups and the lighter you are, the more fun you'll have... trust me on that one lol.

Been thinking about this, +1! Safety-wise:

  • DJI insurance vs others: DJI is easier.
  • Official vs generic chargers: Avoid fires.

Go with DJI, you cant go wrong... way more reliable imo.

This^ Also wanted to add, honestly, for hiking, LESS is more. Watch out for these traps: - Overweighting: Dont go over 249g or u lose those sweet legal perks.
- Landing pads: They're bulky and kinda useless for trails. Hand-launch instead!
- Cheap generic chargers: Seriously, they're super sketchy. Basically, save ur money for more storage or another battery. Keep it light and simple! Peace.
