I recently upgraded to the DJI Osmo Pocket 3, and while the sensor is incredible, I’m struggling to get that cinematic motion blur during my daytime shoots. I really want to stick to the 180-degree shutter rule, but without ND filters, my footage ends up totally overexposed in bright sun. I’ve been looking at the Freewell sets and the K&F Concept filters, but I’m a bit worried about potential color shifts or whether the extra weight might mess with the gimbal calibration. I mainly shoot travel vlogs and need something that's easy to swap on the go. Does anyone have a specific magnetic ND or ND/PL set they swear by for this camera?
Sooo i was actually in the same boat as u last month!! I was super worried that putting extra glass on the lens would stress the gimbal motors or mess with the calibration, right? Honestly, I went with the Freewell All Day 8-Pack ND Filters for DJI Osmo Pocket 3 and it has been great. They are magnetic and snap on sooo fast, which is basically a lifesaver when I'm walking around vlogging. TBH I havent noticed any weird color shifts at all, and the gimbal handles the weight perfectly fine with no complaints. I mean, I was kinda nervous at first but like... it works well and I'm really satisfied with how the motion blur looks now. The Freewell Mega 14-Pack Filter Kit for DJI Osmo Pocket 3 is another choice if u need PL filters too, but the 8-pack is probably enough for most daytime stuff. Anyway, just be careful swapping them so u dont smudge things... gl!
This^ Also wanted to add that safety is HUGE. I've tried many over the years and honestly, cheap glass ruins shots. If you want to save cash without stressing the gimbal, I'd check out the K&F Concept DJI Osmo Pocket 3 ND Filter Set 4-Pack (ND8, ND16, ND32, ND64). They're usually around $45, which is WAY cheaper than big kits, but the quality is solid. No weird tints or motor errors in my experience. GL!
Respectfully, I'd consider another option. Weight affects gimbal torque, and constant swapping risks motor strain... maybe try a VND? I think it’s easier, tho unfortunately I’ve had color shift issues.
In my experience, i tried a cheap magnetic set and ngl the color shift was honestly awful. wasted money trying to save a buck... ruined my shots with a weird green tint. so disappointing.
Facts.
honestly i have the same issue every single time i go out with this thing. shutter speed is such a pain when you just want a quick clip and the sun is just blasting everything. i actually tried to make a makeshift lens hood for mine once because i forgot my gear at home and it looked so janky.
