Hey everyone! I just finally upgraded to the Fujifilm X-T5, and while I’m loving that 40MP sensor, the body alone definitely put a dent in my savings. I’m looking to build a small kit of prime lenses without spending a fortune on the high-end XF glass right away. Since this sensor is so high-res, I'm a bit worried about which 'budget' options can actually keep up with the detail. I’ve been looking at the Sigma f/1.4 trio and some Viltrox offerings, but I’m not sure which ones perform best in terms of autofocus and sharpness. I mostly shoot street and portraits. Does anyone have recommendations for sharp, affordable primes that really sing on the X-T5?
honestly, i was sooo worried that budget lenses would just look blurry or break on my X-T5... 40MP is a lot!! but i've been really happy with the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary for street. it feels super solid and reliable. also, the Viltrox AF 56mm f/1.4 XF works well for portraits and the mount feels safe. basically, dont stress the resolution too much, they actually sing! gl
For your situation, i'd basically suggest the Viltrox AF 75mm f/1.2 Pro for portraits and Sigma 23mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary for street. ur 40MP sensor might need that extra resolving power tbh.
> the body alone definitely put a dent in my savings. Warning: budget glass often has MAJOR purple fringing. I tried Sigma vs Viltrox; Sigma had better AF but neither matched native speeds unfortunately... sooo disappointing tbh.
