I recently got my hands on the Fujifilm X-T30 II, and I'm loving it so far. Now, I'm looking to expand my lens collection to really make the most of this camera. What are your top recommendations for lenses that pair well with the X-T30 II? I'm interested in a variety of photography styles, from landscapes to portraits, and maybe even some street photography. I'd love to hear about both Fujinon and third-party options. What's your go-to lens for this camera? Any hidden gems or must-have options I should consider? Budget isn't a major concern, but I'd appreciate suggestions across different price ranges. Thanks in advance for your insights!

Just picked up an X-T30 II and loving it so far. Looking for lens recommendations - here's what I've found works great:

For starters: The XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4 kit lens is actually fantastic for everyday shooting, covering landscapes, portraits, and general snapshots with surprisingly good image quality and helpful OIS. For about $100 more than the body cost, the XC 15-45mm is one of the smallest, lightest zooms with useful 23-69mm equivalent range.

Prime favorites: The XF 35mm f/1.4 R delivers excellent sharpness and beautiful bokeh, perfect for street photography, portraits, and general use. The XF 23mm f/2 R WR is compact and weather-resistant, great for street/portrait work with classic 35mm equivalent field of view. For portraits specifically, the XF 56mm f/1.2 R is excellent with gorgeous bokeh and sharpness.

Telephoto option: The XF 50-140mm f/2.8 is versatile with constant f/2.8 aperture, perfect for portraits, wildlife, and sports with 76-213mm equivalent range, though it's bigger and heavier.

The best lens depends on your shooting style and budget. Start with the 18-55mm kit lens if you're new, then add primes like the 35mm f/1.4 or 23mm f/2 to expand creative possibilities. All these lenses really shine on the X-T30 II!

@Reply #2 - good point! Those zooms are decent starters, but in my experience, if you want to push that sensor to its limit, you need to go for the high-performance primes. I've tried many over the years and these two are basically essential if you care about technical quality.

  • Get the Viltrox 75mm f/1.2 AF Fuji X for portraits. Ngl, it's sharper than the first-gen Fuji 56mm and the bokeh is way smoother. It's a bit big on the X-T30 II but the image quality is just on another level.
  • For street and landscapes with a bit more punch, the Fujinon XF 16mm f/1.4 R WR is a masterpiece. The close-focusing distance lets you get really creative shots that standard zooms just can't touch. The autofocus is also lightning fast compared to some of the older f/1.4 glass. Quick tip: if you find these bigger lenses make the camera feel unbalanced, grab a cheap bolt-on handgrip. Makes a world of difference for the handling... especially when you're out shooting all day and don't want your hand cramping up.

XF 27mm lens is a good travel lens for X-T30 II.

I've been shooting with my X-T30 II for about 6 months now, and the Fujinon 23mm f/2 R WR rarely leaves my camera. It's the perfect street photography companion - weather-sealed, fast focusing, and gives you that 35mm equivalent view. If you're more into portraits, the 56mm f/1.2 is magical but pricier. What kind of photography do you mainly do?

Here's my take on lenses:

  1. XF 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR: A great all-in-one lens for travel and various styles.

  2. XF 10-24mm f/4 R OIS WR: Excellent for landscapes and architecture.

  3. Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN: A fantastic third-party option for portraits.

  4. XF 33mm f/1.4 R LM WR: A newer lens that's incredibly sharp and great for street photography.

My personal favorite is the 33mm f/1.4. It's versatile and produces stunning images. For a hidden gem, try the Fujinon XF 60mm f/2.4 R Macro. It's older but still produces beautiful images and works well for both macro and portrait photography.

The XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4 kit lens is actually fantastic - don't underestimate it! But if you want to upgrade, the XF 23mm f/2 is my favorite for everyday shooting. Perfect 35mm equivalent field of view and the image quality is just gorgeous. Super compact too, which matches the X-T30 II perfectly.
