I've just upgraded to the Fuji X-T5 and I'm seeking recommendations for the ultimate travel lens. I'm planning a trip where I'll be shooting mostly in daylight, capturing everything from street scenes to landscapes. I'd love a versatile option that allows me to travel light and shoot free from constraints. What's your top pick for a do-it-all travel lens that shines in bright conditions? Any budget-friendly options? Thanks for your insights!

The new released XF 16-50mm f/2.8-4.8 R LM WR Lens is a great lens for travel.

Fuji has just announced XF 16-55mm f/2.8 II, significantly more compact update of its top-end fast standard zoom lens for the X mount. A great lens for travel.

The XF 16-80mm f/4 is probably your best all-around travel lens. Weather-sealed, versatile focal range, and reasonably compact. I've taken mine through multiple countries and it rarely leaves my X-T5.

I travel with just the XF 35mm f/1.4. Forces creativity, ultra-lightweight, and amazing in low light. Pair with the XF 16-80mm whenever you need zoom flexibility. One prime + one zoom is my ideal travel kit.

Been thinking about your setup... I spent years trying to find the perfect one-lens kit. I remember trekking through Kyoto with a heavy bag and basically missing half the sights because I was too busy swapping glass. Honestly, just look at the third-party brands that started making X-mount stuff recently tho. ^ This. Also, in my experience, focusing on these points helps:

  • Just go with any of the Sigma zooms. You really cant go wrong with their glass quality these days and they tend to be lighter than the Fuji equivalents.
  • Tamron is another solid bet. Any of their all-in-one zooms will handle everything from street to landscape without you needing to carry a backpack.
  • I always check sites like FujiRumors or DPReview for their side-by-side comparisons before I pull the trigger on anything. Over the years, I've found that those third-party options give you way more freedom for the price. I stopped buying native Fuji lenses for travel a while ago and havent looked back once.
