I recently made the jump to the Fujifilm X-series with an X-T5, and I am absolutely loving the system so far. However, I have realized my old flash triggers and speedlights from my previous setup are not fully compatible with Fuji’s TTL and HSS features. I am looking for something that isn't too bulky since I want to keep the kit portable, but it still needs to be powerful enough for occasional wedding work. I have heard good things about Godox and the smaller Nissin units, but I am worried about how well they integrate with the Fuji menus. Does anyone have a specific recommendation for a flash that balances size and power perfectly for X-series bodies?

yo, i feel u on the X-T5 transition!! its such a sick camera but yeah the flash situation can be kinda confusing at first when youre coming from another system. basically, Fuji uses its own specific communication protocol for TTL and HSS. if the flash pins dont line up exactly or the firmware isnt right, the camera just wont talk to it properly, which literally ruins the whole portable vibe if u have to go full manual... so why does this matter for weddings?? well, you need that HSS when youre shooting outdoors and want a wide aperture, otherwise your shutter speed gets stuck at 1/250. i mean, i guess you could use an ND filter, but thats a whole other thing to carry. plus weddings move way too fast for manual flash power adjustments. for your situation, i would suggest looking at the Godox V350F Li-Ion Flash for Fujifilm. its definately the best budget-friendly pick that balances size and power perfectly. i use it on my own Fuji kit and its tiny compared to those massive studio units. it usually goes for around $160, which is a total steal compared to the Fujifilm EF-60 Shoe Mount Flash that costs like $400 or more. the lithium battery is a life saver cuz it recycles in about 1.7 seconds at full power!! if youre realy pinching pennies, the Godox TT350F Mini Flash for Fujifilm is only about $85, but be careful cuz it uses AA batteries and recycles way slower. anyway, the Godox menu system is pretty straightforward, tho it doesnt integrate perfectly into the Fuji in-camera menus... you mostly gotta set stuff on the flash itself. but yeah, for the price, its hard to beat. hope that helps, good luck!!

Sooo I totally went through this exact same thing when I traded my heavy DSLR gear for the Fujifilm X-T5 Mirrorless Camera. Honestly, I thought my old flashes would at least work in manual mode, but they were so clunky and inconsistent that I almost gave up on flash photography altogether lol. Over the years I've tried many different setups, and even tho I still feel like a beginner with these complex Fuji menus, I reallyyy think the Godox ecosystem is the way to go for the best value. In my experience, if you're doing weddings, you gotta have something with a lithium battery cuz the recycle times are way faster and you wont miss shots. I used to carry AA batteries by the dozen and it was such a nightmare. I would suggest looking at the Godox V1-F Round Head Flash for Fujifilm. It's basically the gold standard for Fuji right now. The round head gives a much softer falloff than those rectangular ones, and the menu integration is actually pretty smooth. Plus, it handles HSS like a champ when you're shooting wide open in daylight. If that feels a bit too bulky, I've also messed around with the Godox TT350F Mini Flash for Fujifilm. It's tiny! It's great for travel, but tbh it might struggle at a big wedding if you're bouncing off high ceilings. For a middle ground that's still powerful, the Godox V860III-F TTL Flash for Fujifilm is solid and definately worth the money. Basically, the lesson I learned is dont skimp on the transmitter either. Grab a Godox X2T-F TTL Wireless Flash Trigger for Fujifilm and you can control everything right from the screen. It makes the Fuji system feel sooo much more professional. Good luck with the X-T5!! peace
