I just upgraded to the Fujifilm X-T5 and I’m absolutely loving the 40MP sensor, but my current zoom lens feels a bit too bulky and conspicuous for candid street work. I’m looking to switch to a prime lens setup that’s lightweight and discreet. I’ve been debating between the compact 'Fujicron' f/2 series for their portability and weather sealing, versus the newer f/1.4 versions to really maximize that high-res sensor. I mainly shoot in busy urban areas, so fast autofocus is a huge priority for me. For those of you shooting street on the X-T5, do you prefer the 23mm or 35mm focal length, and which specific lens do you find balances best on this body?

I went through this last year and picked up the Viltrox 23mm f1.4 XF AF lens for Fujifilm X-mount for $299. AF is fast and it actually resolves that 40MP sensor decent enough, tbh.

I was worried about the 40MP sensor, but I ended up choosing the Fujifilm Fujinon XF 23mm f/2 R WR because it's way cheaper and smaller for street stuff. The f/1.4 version is amazing but it's heavier and cost me almost double. For busy streets, the f/2 autofocus is literally instant and doesnt attract attention. Id start there tbh. gl!

Seconding the recommendation above, but honestly, dont sleep on the Fujifilm Fujinon XF 35mm f/2 R WR if ur looking for max value. It's sooo tiny and handles the 40MP sensor surprisingly well for the price, basically a perfect match for the X-T5's autofocus. In my experience, that slightly tighter 50mm equivalent is way easier for candid street work without feeling too intrusive... gl! 👍
