Hey all! Getting a Nikon Z8. What's the best all-around walkaround lens? I'm looking to spend around $1500. What would you recommend for that budget?

Z8, awesome choice! I've been rocking the Nikon Z 24-120mm f/4 S. Seriously fantastic walkaround lens! I paid around $1100. Image quality is amazing. CAUTION: Get a good strap! That Z8 + lens combo is hefty; you DON'T want it hitting the pavement! Consider a pro photographer's opinion too, but I love it!

For your Z8, consider the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 G2. Optically superb, and technically, its VXD linear motor delivers snappy autofocus. I've seen them around $900 – leaves room in your budget!

Don't sleep on the used market! A pre-owned Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 G2 can be had for around $800 and delivers amazing image quality for the price. It's a fantastic value!

Before committing, research current Tamron market trends with Z8. I've tried many, and price fluctuations are wild. Look at recent sales data; price versus performance is KEY. Consult a photography forum database for user reviews before pulling the trigger. Remember, safe investing is smart investing.

Heads up on walkaround lenses, folks! Consider weight – especially if you're shooting near roads. A heavier lens can be a hazard if you fumble it near traffic. I'd suggest the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8. Pretty sharp, lightweight, and you can find it used for around $800, leaving budget for a good neck strap. Trust me, over the years, a secure strap is cheaper than a dropped lens...or worse.
