Amazon Shopping Cart, Can I Share with others?

Hey everyone,

I was wondering about something related to my Amazon shopping cart. The title pretty much sums it up: 'Amazon Shopping Cart, Can I Share with others?'

Basically, my family and I are planning a group gift for my aunt's upcoming birthday. We've all been adding ideas to my Amazon cart as we find them, and it's become a collaborative brainstorming space. However, it's all under my account right now. I'd love for my siblings to be able to directly edit the cart, add things themselves without having to just send me links, and ideally, see the running total as we add items. Is there a way to actually share the *cart* itself, so they can directly interact with it, or are we stuck with just sending links and screenshots back and forth? We're all Prime members, if that makes a difference.

Also, if sharing the cart directly isn't possible, is there a workaround that lets multiple people contribute to some kind of 'wish list' or 'idea list' that I can then easily transfer into my cart? Something that's a little more streamlined than just a shared Google Doc?

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions! What's the best way to let multiple people collaborate directly on building an Amazon shopping cart for a group gift?

Late to the party but Charity is totally on the right track with the registry idea. Over the years I have coordinated dozens of family gifts and honestly Amazon is kinda behind the curve when it comes to true collaboration compared to others. In my experience, comparing how the big names handle this:

  • Amazon is top tier for selection but their collaboration is basically just a shared list with no way to split the bill directly.
  • Target actually has a way better Group Gift function for registries where people can chip in funds toward one big item which saves so much headache.
  • Walmart is basically the same as Amazon, mostly just list-sharing without the deep integration we all want... If you are dead set on Amazon tho, the List feature is really the only safe way to go. Just a shame they havent caught up to the specialized sites yet.

To add to the point above: honestly i am in the exact same boat and it is driving me nuts. Been trying to coordinate a big group buy for a buddys wedding for weeks now and i just want everyone to see the live cart total without me having to play secretary. I have tried pretty much every workaround mentioned here over the years and nothing actually replaces a real shared cart. Its super frustrating that such a massive platform still lacks this basic feature... still looking for a real answer myself.

Hey there! I totally get the group gift struggle. Unfortunately, Amazon doesn't let you directly share your cart for editing. I had issues with that last Christmas, trying to coordinate gifts with my siblings. It was not as good as expected 🙁

But, I found that creating a Shareable List works pretty well! You can make it collaborative, so everyone can add/remove items. Then, you can easily move everything from the list to your cart when you're ready to buy. It's under 'Lists' in your account.

I'm still learning, but hope this helps!

Hey everyone! Reading through this, I totally get the frustration! While the suggestions about gift registries are good, sometimes you just want to stick with Amazon, right? I've been in the same boat, planning surprise parties and group gifts, and Amazon's limitations can be a pain!

Okay, so directly sharing the cart? Still a no-go, sadly. BUT! There's a slightly clunky but workable DIY option you might not have considered: **Amazon Lists + Browser Extension Magic!**

Here's the breakdown: First, create a new Amazon List (not a Wish List, just a regular List). Then, and this is key, have *everyone* install a browser extension like 'AddToAmazon' or 'Universal Amazon Wish List Button'. These extensions let you add items from ANY website directly to your Amazon List with one click.

Why is this awesome? Well, you can all browse Amazon AND other sites (if you're getting creative with the gift), and quickly dump everything into that shared list. Then, *you*, as the cart master, can go through the list and add it to your cart when you're ready to purchase. It's not DIRECT cart editing, but it's a heck of a lot faster than sending links back and forth!

I used this exact method last year when planning my mom's surprise 60th! We were pulling ideas from Etsy, Uncommon Goods, and of course, Amazon itself. Having everyone use the extension saved a TON of time. You still need to manage the final cart creation, but the brainstorming phase becomes so much smoother. Plus, you can see who added what to the list!

Just remember to clearly label the list so everyone knows it's for Aunt's birthday! Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions; I'm happy to elaborate!

Hey! I understand the need for collaboration, but sharing account access, even with family, can introduce security risks. I'd advise against giving anyone your Amazon login info, even for a short time. Instead of sharing a cart, consider using Amazon's 'Lists' feature. You can create a shareable list (like an 'Aunt's Birthday Gift Ideas' list), and invite others to add items. Everyone can contribute without compromising your account security. It's safer than sharing login credentials, which I've seen lead to unexpected issues. Happy to help if you have more security questions!

Hey! Joining the convo – I see the struggle. While Amazon's sharing is limited, have you all looked at using a dedicated gift registry site instead? Some, like MyRegistry.com, let multiple people contribute items from *any* website, not just Amazon. It's like a universal wishlist!

You can then see who added what, mark items as purchased, and it keeps a running total. It might be less Amazon-centric but avoids the security issues mentioned earlier. We used it for a wedding once, and it was way easier than endless links!
