Ive been using Amazon shared lists for forever to manage my house groceries and its usually super straightforward but im getting really hyped because im organizing a surprise 10th anniversary party for my coworker next week and just invited 15 people to a new list. Im slightly worried about the transparency though because i dont want people seeing who added what and ruining the surprise if someone adds a specific inside joke gift.
Requirements:
Is there a setting in the manage menu to toggle contributor names off or is it just stuck like that for everyone to see...
tl;dr: Short answer is no. Amazon lists show the name of the person who added the item by default and there is no setting to toggle that off. Honestly I have been using these lists for years and I am very satisfied with how they handle my daily household stuff. It is very reliable for that. But for a surprise party with 15 people? That is a whole different story. Since you are on a tight deadline for Wednesday, you should know that everyone on that list will definitely see the names. There is no way to hide it in the manage menu, it is just how the system works for contributors. I usually stick to the basics because it works well, but for something high-stakes like a 10th anniversary surprise, the transparency might ruin the vibe. If you are worried about people seeing the inside jokes, maybe check out a simple tool for share Amazon cart since it handles things a bit differently than a standard registry or list. I have found that playing it safe is better when secrets are involved. Just to make sure I am giving the best advice... are you planning on having everyone buy their own items or are you all chipping in for one big order? Also, are the guests of honor already invited to the list as view only or are you keeping them off it entirely for now?
