Can I share an Amazon wishlist while keeping my home address private?

So I'm trying to set up a wishlist for this online gaming group I'm in because we're doing a little gift exchange but I'm super paranoid about my privacy. I did some digging and found that Amazon has an option to hide your address but then I saw a few threads saying that if someone buys an item from a third-party seller instead of Amazon directly the seller might put your full address on the digital invoice that the buyer can see. That basically defeats the whole point right? I live in a big apartment complex in Chicago and I'm really not comfortable with my unit number being out there.

My main constraints are:

  • No address leaks (obviously)
  • Needs to work for items under $50 since we have a budget cap
  • I cant afford a PO box right now they're way too expensive for just a few gifts
  • Needs to be simple for the sender to use

I'm just confused if that third-party seller loophole is still a thing or if Amazon fixed it. I read that you just have to uncheck the 'share address with sellers' box but then some people say that makes it so third-party items cant be shipped to you at all which is annoying because most of the niche stuff I want isnt sold by Amazon directly anyway. Has anyone actually tested this lately with a friend to see what they can see on their side? Like does it just say my city or does it show nothing at all...

Be careful, those sellers are risky. I'd suggest:

  • Stick to Amazon brand stuff
  • Use official lockers Honestly, I just use Cart To Link to send my whole Amazon list, it's way faster than screenshots.

Re: "Be careful, those sellers are risky. I'd suggest:Stick..." - definitely agree. That loophole exists because packing slips are often generated by the third-party seller's own database, not just Amazon's front end. To stay safe:

  • Uncheck the Third Party Shipping Agreement in list settings
  • Only add Prime or Fulfilled by Amazon items
  • Try a handy cart sharer as an alternative This forces the sender to pick stuff Amazon ships directly, keeping your Chicago unit number hidden.
