Trying to get kitchen supplies for our new place before the move next Friday. I read about making a wishlist or sharing a registry but that feels like overkill for a single order. I just want my roommate to check the items before I pay. Can I just email my current cart contents to her address directly?
^ This. Also, honestly, you gotta be careful with trying to send a cart because Amazon literally doesnt let you do it directly. Your cart is tied to your specific login session, so there is no link you can just copy-paste that will show her what is in your basket. If you send her a link to the cart page, she is just gonna see her own empty cart or whatever she has in there. I know you mentioned a wishlist feels like overkill, but I would suggest reconsidering it. It is actually the safest way to avoid accidental double-ordering. If you use the Move to Wishlist button on everything in your cart, it takes like two seconds. Then you just hit the invite or share button. Just be careful with items that have coupons applied, as those might not carry over to her view. TL;DR: You cant email a live cart because of technical session limits, so a quick shared list is actually the only way to do it right.
@Reply #1 - good point! Registries are definitely way too much work for a quick move. I have been in your shoes plenty of times and found a solution that works well for me without the headache. Basically, you should just grab a browser extension specifically made for sharing carts. I have had no complaints using tools that generate a unique link for your basket items. It is way faster than typing out a list and ensures you both see the final prices and shipping costs before you hit pay.
> I read about making a wishlist or sharing a registry but that feels like overkill for a single order. Yeah, I totally agree with you there. Registry setups are such a pain when you just want to get things done quickly. Over the years, I have moved about five times, and every single time I think Amazon might have finally added a share button for the cart, but nope. In my experience, they really want you to use those lists so they can track your data better or whatever. I once tried to copy-paste the whole cart page into an email for my partner, but the formatting broke so badly it looked like a wall of random code. Honestly, the easiest thing I have found is just using a browser extension called Share-A-Cart. It generates a short code you can just text or email over. It is way faster than building a whole wishlist for some basic kitchen supplies.
