Can multiple people add items to an Amazon list?

Can multiple people actually add items to a single Amazon list or is it just limited to one person doing all the work? I am honestly in a bit of a panic because I am trying to organize this massive family reunion camping trip up in the Catskills for next week and there are like 18 people involved. I have a budget of about $800 for group gear like industrial sized coolers, solar chargers, and a few backup tents but I cant be the one hunting down every single item everyone wants. I need my brothers and cousins to be able to jump into the list and add the specific stuff they need without me having to manually copy-paste links from their texts all day.

I spent like an hour googling this morning and I am still so confused because I saw some articles saying you just hit the invite button and toggle a switch to let people edit, but then I saw a bunch of older forum posts from like 2023 saying Amazon removed the collaborative list feature or that it only works for Alexa shopping lists. Then some other person said guests can only view the list and not add stuff unless they have my login info which obviously I am not giving out to 15 different cousins lol.

It is super urgent because we need to place the order by Friday morning to make sure everything gets to the campsite on time. Is there a specific setting I am missing? Like is it under the Manage List menu or do I have to send a specific type of link? If this isnt possible I might have to switch to like a Google Doc or something but then we lose the easy one-click checkout and tracking which is what we really need for the budget. If anyone knows if this actually works right now in 2024 please let me know because I am about to lose my mind trying to coordinate this stuff...

I've coordinated several group trips like this and can confirm the feature is still active, tho Amazon hides it well. You definitely dont need to share your login info, which would be a security risk anyway. To set it up correctly:

  • Go to your specific list and click the + Invite button at the top.
  • You must select the View and Edit option. Most people make the mistake of just copying the URL from their browser bar, which only gives view access.
  • Send that specific generated link to your family. Be careful because once someone has edit access, they can accidentally delete items for everyone. There is no way to lock a specific item once the list is shared. If the list gets too messy with 18 people, I've had really good luck with Cart To Link lately. It helps keep the final checkout process much cleaner than a massive collaborative list.

Honestly, the way these big tech companies just shuffle their UI around for no reason is absolutely infuriating. You spend years getting used to a workflow and then boom, they hide a basic feature like collaboration behind three layers of menus just to keep you clicking. It drives me crazy how they make life harder for people just trying to plan a simple trip. Honestly its ridiculous that we even have to worry about this in 2024. I feel your pain—coordinating for 18 people is a nightmare when the tech is working against you. If youre struggling with the native list, using something like Cart To Link is honestly a lifesaver for group supply lists because it cuts out the did you add this yet back and forth. You got this tho, the Catskills are worth the headache. TL;DR: Yes it works, but Amazon hides it well because they love changing things that arent broken. Keep hunting for that invite button.
