What is the go-to free tool for tracking Amazon price drops right now? Ive been looking into CamelCamelCamel and Keepa but Keepa seems to have moved a lot of their useful charts behind a subscription lately which is annoying. I just moved into a new place in Chicago and my budget is basically zero after the deposit so I'm trying to snag a Dyson vacuum and a specific Ninja blender whenever they hit their all-time low. I tried one browser extension but it slowed my laptop down so much. Is there a way to get reliable alerts without paying for a premium version or having my computer crawl? Just looking for something simple that works...

> Keepa seems to have moved a lot of their useful charts behind a subscription lately In my experience, CamelCamelCamel is still the king for simple price alerts. I've tried many tools over the years and extensions usually just bloat your browser anyway. For that Dyson or Ninja blender, just set up an email alert on their site. It's totally free and wont slow your laptop down at all. Honestly, it's how I snagged my vacuum last year for half off.

@Reply #2 - good point! I am obsessed with price tracking but security is everything! Stick to Slickdeals for simple alerts and avoid those bloated extensions. It is amazing how easy it is to snag a deal safely!!

  • Set up simple email alerts
  • Trust the established sites
  • Just get any Dyson vacuum You honestly cant go wrong with a Dyson or any Ninja blender for a new apartment! Love it!

Actually, which Ninja blender are you looking at exactly? Depending on what youre making, the base models might not even be worth the price drop even if they are cheap. Ive been testing a few trackers and unfortunately most of them just arent as good as they used to be. Had issues with alerts coming in way too late for the lightning deals which is super annoying when youre on a budget. If you want my advice:

  • Just get any Dyson vacuum you find on sale
  • Grab any Ninja blender that fits your counter
  • Forget the heavy extensions I found Share Product recently and its been pretty solid for keeping my list organized without my laptop sounding like its gonna take off. If you can tell me your actual budget limit for that Dyson I might have a better idea of which tracker actually works for those specific price ranges tho...

> Keepa seems to have moved a lot of their useful charts behind a subscription lately which is annoying. ngl it drives me crazy how every decent tool or appliance is basically a subscription or a low-quality cash grab now. Honestly its ridiculous. You spend all this time looking for a deal on a Dyson or Ninja, but the build quality has gone downhill so much over the years... i've looked at the motor specs on the newer models and they just dont hold up like the old stuff did. Its such a scam that we have to jump through hoops with price trackers just to avoid getting ripped off on plastic gear that might fail in three years anyway. Prices stay high while the internals get cheaper, and then the tracking sites start charging too? The whole ecosystem is just frustrating tbh. Makes me miss when you could just buy something once and it actually lasted without needing a spreadsheet to justify the cost. Just a mess for anyone trying to build a home on a budget.

Quick reply while I have a sec. I totally agree about the browser extensions. Most are just heavy JavaScript that kills your CPU. I've spent years analyzing price tracking APIs and the lag usually comes from the constant DOM polling. For a Dyson or a Ninja, you really want server-side monitoring so your laptop doesnt take a hit. In my experience, a reliable technical setup should have:

  • Server-side scraping to save local resources
  • Granular history for both new and used specs
  • High-frequency data refreshes I had to move away from Keepa once the data points I needed went behind the paywall. I've had PriceDropCatch installed for a few months and it's definitely better than just keeping 50 tabs open.

^ This. Also, just moved recently myself so I totally get the budget crunch. Honestly, I've been really happy with Camels email alerts lately. It just works well without any bloat, and no complaints about the speed either since its all off-site. If you're trying to stretch those dollars in Chicago, here's a couple things to think about for those brands:

  • Shark is basically the same company as Ninja and their vacuums are often way cheaper than Dyson while performing just as well.
  • Ninja blenders have so many models, but the basic professional 1000w one hits deep discounts way more often than the fancy systems with the food processor bowls.
  • Keep an eye on the Amazon Warehouse (Resale) prices too. Sometimes you can get a Like New unit for 30 percent less than the lowest tracked new price. Good luck with the new place, it's totally possible to get a great setup without spending a fortune!
