so tired of swapping lenses in the wind and getting dust on my sensor, its driving me crazy. need one lens for my Iceland trip next month that just stays on.

  • budget $1100
  • lightweight (no bricks)
  • 24-105 or 28-200 range

what should i grab before i lose my mind?

Re: "I switched to a single versatile lens for..." - honestly best move you can make for a trip like Iceland. I bought the Tamron 28-200mm f/2.8-5.6 Di III RXD for my last hiking trip and ive been super happy with it. It is way lighter than carrying a bunch of primes and the image quality is surprisingly sharp for a superzoom. No complaints at all. If you really need that 24mm width for landscapes tho, the Sony FE 24-105mm f/4 G OSS is a beast and works well within your budget too, especially if you find a sale. Tbh I usually check the comparison tool on RTINGS or the forums over at DPReview before buying anything big like this to see how the sharpness holds up. The Tamron is usually around $700-$800 which leaves you plenty of cash for extra batteries or a nice filter set for those waterfalls!

Are you planning on shooting any wildlife like puffins or just the landscapes? Makes a massive difference for that focal range choice! Iceland is absolutely epic, you're gonna love it! Quick tips for the budget:

I switched to a single versatile lens for my last trip and im super happy with that decision. It kept my sensor clean and honestly simplified my whole process out there.
