What is the best tool for checking Amazon price history these days? I've been looking at Keepa and CamelCamelCamel but I'm honestly confused if Keepa is worth paying for just for one-off stuff. I'm trying to snag an espresso machine for my kitchen remodel next month and I need to see if these 'deals' are actually real...

late to the party but i gotta agree with the point about those inflated prices. in my experience, it is absolutely infuriating how some of these high-end espresso machine listings get manipulated. over the years ive seen sellers play these games where they hide the actual historic low behind coupons or weird prime-only bundles that the trackers sometimes miss entirely. it drives me crazy when i spend hours digging through technical specs just to find out the deal is actually ten bucks more than it was three months ago because they changed the SKU or something. tracking this stuff has become such a massive headache lately with all the dynamic pricing nonsense. honestly it is just exhausting trying to stay on top of the data when the goalposts are always moving... kinda makes you want to give up on the hunt sometimes.

To add to the point above: you really gotta be careful with those kitchen appliance discounts because brands like Breville or DeLonghi love to inflate the MSRP right before a big sale event. Honestly, Keepa is better for technical data but you might not need the paid version if you are just looking for one item. I have seen way too many people get burned by limited time deals that are actually just the average price from two months ago. Before you dive in, I need to know a couple of things to give better advice:

  • Are you looking for a big name brand or something more niche like a Lelit or Rocket?
  • Do you care about tracking Warehouse Deals or just brand new stock? If you are just doing a one-off purchase, maybe check out a decent price monitor that does not require a subscription first. Just watch out for third-party sellers on Amazon... they often mess with the price history by delisting and relisting the same product under a different ASIN to hide the old pricing. Also, make sure to check if the machine comes with a full warranty if the price looks too good to be true. Some new units are actually grey market imports. I would suggest being very cautious with the lightning deals specifically because they create artificial urgency. Some of those renewed machines are basically junk too, so make sure to keep an eye on the seller feedback before you pull the trigger. You would be surprised how many people get caught in that trap during a remodel.

Honestly if you are looking at high end espresso machines you absolutely need Keepa! I have been using it for years and it is lightyears ahead of anything else out there. For a kitchen remodel where you are likely dropping 500 to 1000 bucks on a machine it is totally worth it to see the granular data. Espresso machines like Breville or Gaggia swing by hundreds of dollars in a single week and Keepa catches every single tiny change! Here is why it wins every single time:

  • It tracks warehouse deals which are amazing for scoring open box espresso gear
  • You see exactly when lightning deals happened in the past so you can predict the next one
  • It shows stock levels so you know if a deal is about to sell out
  • The browser extension sits right on the Amazon page so you never forget to check Even if you dont want to pay for the premium features right now you can still get a ton of value from this free price tracker to see the general trends and basic charts. Most people think they are getting a steal during Prime Day but the charts usually show the price was actually lower back in March or something crazy! Seriously dont buy anything for your new kitchen until you have looked at the 365 day history. It is such an amazing feeling when you snag a high end machine at its literal lowest price ever!
