I finally got my hands on a Canon R5 and I'm honestly so pumped to use it!! I am planning this huge trip to Iceland in two weeks and I really want to get those massive landscape shots of the mountains and stuff but I'm basically a total beginner. My friend told me I need a "wide angle" but when I look online there are so many different ones with weird numbers like 15-35mm or 14-35mm and I'm getting really confused. I have around $1500 to spend on one good lens but I don't even know where to start looking. What is the actual best wide lens I should get for landscapes?

Congrats on the R5, honestly such a solid choice. If you want to keep some cash for your trip, skip the super pricey f/2.8 glass. Since you usually shoot landscapes at high apertures anyway, f/4 is totally fine.

  • Canon RF 14-35mm f/4L IS USM is your best bet
  • Its way lighter for hiking Tbh it fits your budget and feels safer than carrying a 2k lens around waterfalls...

Ok adding this to my list of things to try. Thanks for the tip!
