What DSLR should I buy for under $1000 that is actually good? I have no idea where to even start and all the different buttons and lenses are so confusing.

I need it for my sisters outdoor wedding in July and Im really worried I'll buy the wrong thing. Is $1000 enough for a beginner? Sorry if this is stupid...

Ive shot a few outdoor ceremonies over the years and honestly, the Canon EOS Rebel T8i EF-S 18-55mm f/4-5.6 IS STM is a total workhorse for beginners. I once used a similar setup for a friends backyard wedding and the autofocus was a lifesaver when people started moving around. Pro tip: grab a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM lens too. It gives you that blurry background everyone loves for portraits without breaking the bank.

Honestly, a grand is a solid budget. Dont stress. You might want to consider going with a slightly older body to save cash for a better lens, though. Outdoor weddings can be tricky with dynamic range and harsh shadows. Make sure to check the burst rate and ISO performance before you pull the trigger. I would suggest checking these out:

To add to the point above: autofocus is seriously everything for a wedding! You definitely dont want to miss the big kiss because the camera was hunting for focus lol. I love it when people jump into photography for a big event! Quick question tho, will it be super bright mid-day or more of an evening ceremony? And how close can you get? That really changes what you should buy!
