Need a vlogging setup under $1500 for my Japan trip. Looked at Sony ZV-E10 and Fuji X-S20 but I'm torn. Sony has better AF but Fuji colors look better for street stuff and I cant decide if focus is worth the boring look.

  • $1500 budget
  • good IBIS for handheld
  • flip screen

Any middle ground?

To add to the point above: honestly, you should look at the Sony Alpha 6700 Mirrorless Camera with 16-50mm Lens as the perfect middle ground. I have been shooting with various systems for years and Sony finally fixed their boring colors with the new Creative Looks profiles. You can get that filmic vibe straight out of the camera now without much effort. In my experience, Japan is crowded and fast. Having the AI autofocus on the 6700 is a total game changer compared to older models.

  • The IBIS is solid for walking shots.
  • Flip screen is super bright for outdoor vlogging.
  • It has weather sealing, which is great if you hit a rainy day in Kyoto. If stabilization is your absolute top priority, check out the Panasonic LUMIX GH5 II Mirrorless Camera with 12-60mm Lens. The IBIS is legendary, tho the autofocus isnt quite as snappy as the Sony. Stick with the 6700 if you want the best all-rounder imo... nothing sucks more than missing a shot because the focus hunted.

I have been using the Fujifilm X-S20 Mirrorless Camera with 18-55mm f/2.8-4 Lens for a few months and I am very satisfied with its performance as a travel tool. It fits your budget and offers a level of reliability that is hard to beat for street vlogging. The IBIS is quite dependable for handheld shots and feels much safer than relying on digital cropping.

  • Battery life: The larger battery capacity works well for long days of shooting in Japan.
  • Stability: The mechanical stabilization is much more consistent than the electronic options on the Sony. The colors are beautiful and the autofocus is reliable enough that you wont miss shots. It is a solid, predictable choice that gives me a lot of peace of mind.

Spent months analyzing bitrates and sensor readout speeds for my last trip! Data is amazing, honestly!

  • Does the 10-bit storage cost scare you?
  • Will you actually use 4K60?
