I'm looking to upgrade the audio setup on my Sony a7 IV for video work. The internal mic is okay but I need something more professional for client projects and YouTube content. Considering both on-camera shotgun mics and wireless lav systems. Budget is around $200-600. What mics have worked well with the a7 IV's audio inputs? Any issues with handling noise or compatibility I should know about? Would love to hear your real-world experiences and recommendations!

DJI Mic 2 is recommended.

For the Sony a7 IV, I'd strongly recommend the Sony ECM-M1 - it uses beamforming technology and advanced digital processing technology to provide eight audio recording modes including stereo to deliver outstanding sound quality in a wide range of situations. The microphone takes full advantage of the Sony A7IV's digital audio interface to avoid the noise and distortion associated with analogue transmission. It's specifically designed for Sony cameras and connects through the Multi Interface Shoe with no cables needed!

I use Sennheiser MKE600, a great wireless mic for Sony... I have Sennheiser MKE600, the audio quality is great.

Use the DJI Mic Mini, easy to use and very compact.
