I'm eyeing the Canon EOS R8 for my upcoming trip and wondering what kind of Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals we might see this year?  Anyone tracking prices or have insider tips on which retailers typically offer the best Canon deals during the shopping season?

I agree that tracking the price drops is the way to go, but honestly, you really gotta look at the performance benchmarks before jumping on these deals. Tbh, I've been doing some testing and while the R8 is a beast for the price, there are some trade-offs that make me a bit nervous for a big trip. Here’s how I see the current options for real-world use:
- Canon EOS R8: Basically has the R6II sensor and autofocus which is incredible, but that tiny LP-E17 battery is a liability. It dies fast, especially in cold weather, so you're gonna need to pack at least three spares to feel safe. - Canon EOS R6 Mark II: Much more reliable with the larger battery and IBIS. Its a more stable platform if you don't want to worry about camera shake, but even with Black Friday discounts, it's a huge price jump.
- Canon EOS RP: You can find these dirt cheap now, but the autofocus performance and dynamic range are way behind. If you go with the R8, just be careful with the overheating if your shooting 4K/60 for long periods. It's a killer sensor in a small body, but you just have to know its limits, right?
