Hey everyone!
Looking for deals on Canon SX70 HS? Where to find best deals?

Hey! So, I actually bought my SX70 HS a few years ago, not on Black Friday, but leading up to it! I was watching prices like a hawk on Amazon, Best Buy, and Canon's own site. Honestly, I found the best deal a week *before* Black Friday on Amazon – it was a lightning deal. I think it's worth checking regularly in the weeks leading up, not just on the day itself! Also, sign up for email alerts from those retailers; that's how I spotted the deal! Good luck!
Hey there!
So, everyone's focusing on the price of the SX70 HS itself, which is fair enough, but have you considered the *long-term* cost? I was super excited about it too, mainly for the zoom like you, but tbh, I had some issues with battery life. It chews through them! And decent rechargeable AAs aren't exactly cheap. That's something to factor into your budget.
Also, and this might be unpopular, but have you looked at some *slightly* older mirrorless options? You might find a used Sony a6000 or similar (or even a *slightly* newer used model). You might be able to get one + a decent zoom lens for around the same price as a new SX70 HS, especially if you're deal-hunting on Black Friday. Plus, the image quality is generally gonna be better, and you have way more flexibility with lenses later on. It depends what you want, of course - the SX70 HS is simpler, but the mirrorless is upgradable.
Another thing to think about: SD card costs. The SX70 HS will happily take SD cards, but if you start shooting RAW (which you might wanna do for bird photos later on!), those files get BIG fast. So, factor in the cost of a decent, fast SD card (or two!).
Unfortunately, I haven't specifically tracked the SX70 HS prices, but generally, Amazon, Best Buy, and sometimes even Costco (if you're a member!) are worth watching. Canon's website itself *might* have deals, but I've often found better prices elsewhere. It is worth checking though!
Basically, consider total cost of ownership! Batteries, SD cards, maybe even a camera bag… it all adds up. And think about whether a *slightly* different type of camera might actually give you better results (and maybe be cheaper in the long run, even if the initial price is similar).
Hope this helps! Feel free to ask questions.
Hey! Everyone's giving great advice, but I'd say, before Black Friday, decide what's the *most* you're willing to pay. Seriously, write it down! Black Friday hype can be intense, and it's easy to overspend even if a deal LOOKS good. Then, track prices *before* the sales start. That way, you'll know if the "deal" is actually a deal, or just a slightly lower price. Good luck!
