I’m seriously eyeing the Canon R5 Mark II this year and trying to figure out the smartest way to snag one during the Cyber Monday sales.

For those who’ve hunted for Canon bodies on Black Friday/Cyber Monday before: where do you usually find the best R5 / R5 Mark II deals? Are there specific retailers, newsletter alerts, or deal trackers you rely on, and what kind of discounts or bundles should I realistically expect for the R5 Mark II this year?

Just a quick thought while I have a sec... if you are really trying to stretch that budget, dont just look at the big box stores.

  • Look into the FredMiranda Buy/Sell forum. You can often find basically new Canon EOS R5 Mark II Body units from folks who switched systems. No sales tax on those private sales usually saves way more than a standard retail coupon anyway.
  • If you have any student or teacher ID, check the BH EDU Advantage portal. Their member-only discounts can be way deeper than the public Cyber Monday ones.
  • tbh you should think about the total system cost. Canon is super locked down with lenses, so you are stuck with expensive glass. I sometimes look at the Nikon Z8 Body or the Sony Alpha a7R V Body because their lens ecosystems are more budget friendly. You can grab stuff like the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III VXD G2 Sony E for way less than the Canon RF equivalent. Just something to weigh before you go all-in on the R5 II...

tbh im always a bit nervous about buying high-end gear from random sites just to save a few bucks. had a bad experience once with a gray market lens that arrived with a scratched element and zero warranty... total nightmare. if you're looking for a deal on the Canon EOS R5 Mark II Body without the risk, definitely keep an eye on the official Canon Refurbished store. they usually have their own sales around this time and the quality is basically brand new because they check everything twice. another trick i used for my gear was checking the canon loyalty program. sometimes if you have an older canon camera sitting in a drawer, even a broken one, you can call them up and they might give you a discount code for a new one like the Canon EOS R5 Mark II with RF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM. it might not be a massive slash in price but it adds up and you know youre getting the real deal with a full warranty. it worked for me when i was trying to stay on budget but still wanted that peace of mind.
