Best chest mount for DJI Action 4?

Hey all — I’m looking for the best chest mount for a DJI Action 4. I’ll mostly be using it for mountain biking and some hiking, so I’m hoping for something that stays stable over rough trails and doesn’t bounce like crazy. I’ve seen a few “universal” harnesses on Amazon, but I’m not sure how well the Action 4 sits on them (especially with the quick-release mount and the camera’s weight). Also want something comfortable for 2–3 hour rides and adjustable over a jacket. Any specific chest mount (or adapter setup) you’d recommend for the Action 4?

Sooo yeah, I’m with reply #1 — the “low/tight” thing is literally what fixed 90% of my bounce on rough MTB. I tried the cheap “universal” harness vs a more structured GoPro-style harness, and the structured one stayed planted way better (less stretchy straps = less pogo). Small add: I had to use a little DJI quick-release to 1/4" adapter so the camera didn’t twist loose mid-ride... no complaints since.

Honestly, I’ve been deep diving into the telemetry data and vibration benchmarks for my Action 4 over the last season. I was hitting some serious micro-jitters on technical rock gardens, so I started testing different rigging setups to see what actually holds up under high G-force maneuvers. Basically, I found that the standard elasticity in most setups is the biggest performance killer when you're really pinning it. Here’s what I learned from my testing sessions:
- Mass damping: Using a setup with a larger, rigid back-plate spread the vibration across a wider surface area, which really helped the RockSteady 3.0+ work more efficiently.
- Fulcrum points: I realized that the further the lens sits from your chest, the more the 'pendulum effect' ruins your footage during hard braking.
- Strap tensioning: I actually switched to a non-stretch webbing that I dial in with a specific tensioning system to kill any vertical play. It reallyyy makes a difference when you’re pushing for that 'pro' look where the horizon stays level but you can still feel the trail feedback. Tbh, once you eliminate that initial strap stretch, the Action 4's internal stabilization is basically untouchable.

Sooo for MTB/hiking, stability is mostly the harness + where the camera sits, not the Action 4 weight. I’ve been happy with DJI Osmo Action Chest Strap Mount — about $25–$35, comfy for 2–3 hrs and adjusts over a jacket.

What worked for me:
- Keep the mount low/tight on your chest (less bounce)
- Use the Action 4 quick-release + a GoPro Tripod Mount Adapter (Standard Fork Mount) if you need the GoPro-style angle

Honestly no crazy bouncing unless the straps are loose. gl!
