Best microSD card for DJI Action 4?

Just picked up a DJI Action 4 and I’m confused about which microSD card actually keeps up. I’ll be shooting mostly 4K/60 (maybe 4K/120 sometimes) and don’t want dropped frames or overheating warnings. Prefer 128–256GB and something reliable, not the cheapest. Which microSD card models/speeds have worked best for you with the Action 4?

- Story time: i tried a random “U3” card i had lying around and 4K/60 was mostly ok… until longer clips. After like 10–15 mins it’d occasionally hiccup and once I got a heat warning (could’ve been the card + hot day, idk). Swapped to SAMSUNG PRO Plus 256GB microSDXC UHS-I U3 V30 and it’s been boring-in-a-good-way for 4K/60, even with quick 4K/120 bursts.
- Why it matters: the “U3” label alone is kinda vague; V30 seems to be the real minimum that stops weird buffer drops, especially on long takes.
- Cheap tip: buy from a legit seller… fake cards are literally the worst. cheers

Yo, been there… first week with my Action cam I cheaped out on a card and got random hiccups at 4K/60, super annoying lol. For the Action 4, are you filming long continuous clips (like 20–40 min), or short bursts? And are you planning to offload to a phone a lot, or mostly to a PC? That kinda decides whether you need a “fast write” card vs just “fast read” marketing, you know

Same setup here, love it

TL;DR: consensus is dont cheap out—grab a legit UHS-I **U3/V30+** card from SanDisk or Samsung (128–256GB), and you’ll avoid most long-clip hiccups/heat weirdness… fake cards are the real killer lol.

For your situation, I’d keep it simple: stick to UHS-I cards that are **U3 + V30 (or better)** from a legit brand. That combo is basically the “no drama” baseline for 4K/60 on action cams, and it usually holds up fine for occasional 4K/120 too.

Cards that are pretty consistently solid in real use:
- SanDisk Extreme 256GB microSDXC UHS-I U3 V30 A2 (my “default pick” tbh). Usually like $25–$35-ish depending on sales.
- SanDisk Extreme PRO 256GB microSDXC UHS-I U3 V30 A2 (more $$, but if you’re doing long clips a lot, it might be worth it for the extra headroom).
- Samsung PRO Plus 256GB microSDXC UHS-I U3 V30 (also super reliable, often priced close to the SanDisk Extreme).
- Lexar Professional 1066x 256GB microSDXC UHS-I U3 V30 A2 (fast reads for dumping footage, but I’d still buy from a reputable seller).

Quick practical tips: avoid “V10” cards, and be careful with sketchy marketplace sellers (fake cards are REAL). Also format the card in the Action 4 before your first serious shoot.

Are you doing lots of 20–30 min continuous clips, or mostly short takes? That can change whether PRO vs regular is worth it.

To add to the point above: ive been super satisfied with my setup lately and havent had a single hiccup even when shooting 4k/120 in the heat.

  • Definitely check out the Kingston Canvas Go! Plus 256GB microSDXC UHS-I U3 V30. Its been totally reliable for me and is usually priced really well. No complaints at all with long recording sessions.
  • Another one that works well is the PNY Elite-X 256GB microSDXC UHS-I U3 V30. Its kind of an underdog brand but its handled every bit of footage ive thrown at it without any dropped frames. Seriously makes life easier when you dont have to worry about your storage crashing mid-session or getting those annoying error messages... been there, done that, never again lol.

Yep, this is the way
