I just grabbed a DJI Mini 4 Pro and I'm super excited to start flying! Beyond the Fly More kit, what are the absolute 'must-have' accessories? I'm specifically looking for advice on ND filters and high-speed microSD cards. Any recommendations for keeping it budget-friendly? What should be at the top of my shopping list?

Just sharing my experience: I went through this exact same gear hunt last year when I first started pushing the bitrate limits on my drone. Tbh, I initially thought the Fly More kit was enough, but once I started shooting in D-Log M, I realized technical specs for storage and lighting are SO important if you want decent footage. Basically, I ended up comparing a few options to see what actually held up during long flight sessions: 1. Freewell All Day 6-Pack ND Filters for DJI Mini 4 Pro vs DJI Mini 4 Pro ND Filters Set (ND16/64/256)
- Freewell: I mostly use these now because you get six filters (ND8-ND128). Their "GimbalSafe" tech is actually legitβ€”I've never had a calibration error or motor stress.
- DJI Official: I tried these first, but the limited range (only 3 filters) meant I was still overexposed in high noon sun. The glass is great, but the Freewell kit is just more versatile for the price tbh. 2. SanDisk 256GB Extreme microSDXC UHS-I Card V30 vs Samsung EVO Select 256GB microSDXC UHS-I V30
- SanDisk: This is my primary card. It handles the 150Mbps write speed of the Mini 4 Pro without breaking a sweat. I've never seen a "slow card" error even in 4K/60.
- Samsung: I keep a few of these as backups. They're also V30 rated and usually a bit cheaper. Performance feels identical for standard 4K, but I personally trust the SanDisk builds more for heat dissipation during long summer flights. I learned the hard way that skimping on the V30 rating is a disaster cuz the drone will literally just stop recording mid-clip if the buffer overflows... so annoying. Anyway, that was my journey getting the setup dialed in. gl!

> I'm specifically looking for advice on ND filters and high-speed microSD cards. For your situation, I would suggest looking at the K&F Concept ND Filter Set for DJI Mini 4 Pro (ND16, ND32, ND64, ND128). They're like $35 and way CHEAPER than others but honestly still work great... just be careful when snapping them on! Also, make sure to grab the Samsung EVO Select 256GB microSDXC UHS-I U3 A2. It's usually under $20 and hasn't failed me yet for high-bitrate stuff. Good luck!

yo, honestly, watch out for those super cheap microSD cards you see on random sites. I tried to save a few bucks on a no-name brand and it literally corrupted mid-flight, so I lost all my footage from a beautiful sunset shoot... so disappointing and such a waste of time. Basically, just stick to the big names like SanDisk or Samsung and make sure it's at least a V30 rated card. If the write speed is too slow, ur 4K video is basically gonna stutter and fail, which is a total nightmare when ur actually in the air. For ND filters, they're highkey essential for that cinematic motion blur, but dont feel like u gotta buy those massive, expensive 6-pack sets right away. I bought a cheap generic set once and the glass was kinda blurry, not as good as expected tho. If ur looking to stay budget-friendly, I'd suggest just grabbing a single ND16 or ND32 from a brand like Freewell or K&F for those bright sunny days. It's way cheaper than buying a whole kit u might never fully use. Also, maybe grab a landing pad?? I thought they were kinda pointless at first but taking off from grass or sand is a total disaster for the gimbal. I almost ruined mine cuz a tiny twig got stuck in the motors, which would've been a really expensive mistake... anyway, just some stuff to think about. Being a beginner is a bit of a learning curve but u'll get there! gl with the new drone 👍

Been thinking about your setup and honestly everyone is right about the storage. I've used both SanDisk and Samsung for years and they're basically the gold standard... havent had a single failure yet so I'm pretty satisfied sticking with them. SanDisk is usually my go-to for reliability but Samsung is great if youre watching the wallet. Before you buy anything else tho, I had a couple of questions to help narrow it down:

  • Are you aiming for that cinematic motion blur or just trying to stop the footage from looking overexposed?
  • What is your actual budget for these extras? Theres a huge difference between the cheap filters and the high-end glass, so it helps to know what youre willing to spend.

Seconding the recommendation above! Honestly, reliability is EVERYTHING. Basically, it’s a choice between: A) Name brands like SanDisk or Samsung (Reliable, no lost files)
B) Random cheap brands (Risky, high chance of corruption) I think I've been SO satisfied just sticking to the big brands for my gear. They work well and I’ve had zero issues. Seriously, dont skimp on storage or you’ll regret it later haha.
