I’m loving my X-Pro3, but I need a flash that balances power with its compact rangefinder style. I’m looking for something with reliable TTL support and High-Speed Sync that won't make the setup too top-heavy. I've considered the Godox V350F, but I'm open to other brands. Which high-quality external flash do you think pairs best with this specific body?
For your situation, i feel u. its hard finding a flash that doesnt make the pro3 tip over. i tried the Godox V350F Li-ion Flash for Fujifilm but honestly the build felt kinda cheap... realy let me down. • Nissin i40 for Fujifilm is tiny but i had weird TTL issues.
• Fujifilm EF-X500 Flash is highkey way too bulky. honestly, maybe stick with the V350F despite the feel? anyway, do you shoot mostly street or portraits? gl!
Totally agree with the above! I tried the V350F and the build is kinda plastic-y... it let me down too. Technically, I’d suggest looking at the Fujifilm EF-60 Shoe Mount Flash. It’s basically a premium Nissin with better Fuji firmware for TTL. It’s got HSS and high power, but be careful cuz it might feel a bit bulky. Honestly, I found it way more reliable than those cheaper Godox units!! gl
So I went through this exact journey last year lol. I've been shooting with Fuji bodies for a decade and finding a flash that doesnt make the X-Pro3 feel like a brick is *hard*. I basically tried everything under $150 to stay budget-friendly and compact: 1. Godox TT350F Mini Thinklite TTL Flash vs Godox V350F Li-ion Flash for Fujifilm: Honestly, I stuck with the TT350F. It's usually around $85. While it uses AAs instead of Li-ion, the build quality is identical, so I saved the $70 difference. 2. Fujifilm EF-20 Shoe Mount Flash: I found a used one for like $50. No HSS here, but it's TINY and fits the rangefinder vibe perfectly if you dont need much power.
3. LightPix Labs FlashQ Q20II: This was a fun experiment for $75. It's manual, but the flash pops off the base to act as a remote trigger. I kept the Godox TT350F Mini Thinklite TTL Flash cuz the TTL is just too reliable for the price. gl!
Not to disagree, but I'd suggest a different approach to keep your hot shoe safe from physical stress. Honestly, I've seen too many X-Pro3 shoes get wiggly from top-heavy setups, so I'd basically just use the Godox X2T-F TTL Wireless Flash Trigger for Fujifilm and keep your flash off-camera. It’s safer for the body’s internals and gives you way better light, anyway... gl!
Building on the earlier suggestion, I totally agree that the hot shoe on these bodies can be a bit delicate. I actually spent a few months testing different brands side-by-side to see how they handled the communication protocols. Tbh, what I learned from my experience is that most third-party brands struggle with the AF-assist beam timing on Fuji bodies, which is a huge pain if youre shooting in low light. I had one setup that looked perfect on paper—compact, high guide number, HSS—but the voltage regulation was so messy that the color temperature would swing by like 400K every few shots. It drove me nuts in post-production. Eventually, I realized that for a technical geek like me, the consistency of the output is way more important than the brand name on the box. I stopped worrying about the top-heavy feel once I saw how much better my files looked when I had stable power delivery. Nowadays, I just look for brands that have solid firmware update histories because Fujis flash system is notoriously picky... honestly, the technical trade-offs between brands are way bigger than people think.
