Top recommended external flashes for the Fujifilm X-series?

I’ve recently made the switch to the Fujifilm X-series and I'm absolutely loving my X-T4, but I'm struggling to find the right external flash. I do a lot of event photography and some street portraits, so I really need something that supports TTL and High-Speed Sync (HSS). I’ve looked at the Godox V1-F and the smaller TT350F, but I’m worried about the weight balance on a smaller mirrorless body. Does anyone have experience with these, or perhaps a native Fujifilm option like the EF-60? I want something reliable that doesn't feel too top-heavy. What are your go-to flash recommendations for the Fuji system that offer the best balance of power and portability?

Curious about one thing: are you using a battery grip or mostly heavy glass? Balance isn't just about flash weight; it’s really about the rig’s center of gravity. I mean, if you've got a big lens, the Godox V860III-F Flash for Fujifilm might actually stabilize the camera better than a tiny unit. Also, the Nissin i60A Air Flash for Fujifilm is a decent middle-ground option. Just wanna make sure you avoid wrist fatigue!

For your situation, I totally get the struggle with balance... I've been shooting with the X-T4 for a while and honestly, the balance thing is real. The Godox V1-F Round Head Flash is a beast for events cuz of the light quality, but it definitely makes the setup top-heavy. If your doing long event shifts, it gets tiring. The Godox TT350F Mini Flash is super light, but the AA batteries are a pain for recycle times. Basically, I'd recommend the Godox V350F Li-ion Flash for Fujifilm instead. It's the same compact size but has the lithium battery for way faster recycling and better reliability. If you really need the extra power for street stuff, the Godox V860III-F Flash for Fujifilm is a better deal than the Fujifilm EF-60 Shoe Mount Flash imo. The EF-60 is basically a rebranded Nissin i60A and it's kinda overpriced for what you get. Godox is much better for the price tag tho

Yeah, the point about the height acting like a lever is actually really scary tbh. I'm pretty new to all this and I've been doing a lot of reading because I'm honestly terrified of putting too much stress on my X-T4's hot shoe. From the market research I've seen, even though third-party brands are super popular cuz they're cheaper, some of them have really tight or weirdly shaped feet that people say can scrape or even loosen the mount on ur camera over time. Basically, it feels like a bit of a gamble? Like, do u go for the native brands that are guaranteed to fit but cost a fortune, or risk the cheaper ones that might have firmware glitches every time Fuji releases a system update? I've heard some companies are way slower at releasing fixes for that than others, which sounds like a headache if ur relying on it for events. I'm just really worried about the long-term wear and tear on the body if the balance is off or if the connection isn't 100% perfect. Does the build quality usually hold up on the non-native stuff or is it better to just play it safe?

Quick question - before I give advice, can u clarify what ur total budget is for this?? I've been shooting for a long time but I'm still kinda new to the Fuji quirks, and honestly, I've had some really disappointed moments with 'pro' gear that felt terrible on the X-T4. If ur looking for the best bang for ur buck without the bulk, here's why the balance feels off: 1. Height is the enemy. Taller flashes act like a lever on the camera, making it feel top-heavy during street portraits.
2. Battery choice matters. Lithium packs are usually lighter than carrying a bunch of AAs in ur bag and the flash. For a more budget-friendly and balanced setup, I’d look at:
- Nissin i60A for Fujifilm - It’s super compact but still packs enough punch for events.
- Godox TT685II-F - It’s basically the cheaper, slightly lighter alternative to the bigger units mentioned before. Unfortunately, I found the Fujifilm EF-60 way too overpriced for what u get... the recycle speed was kinda mid tbh. Anyway, let me know ur budget!! gl
