Hey everyone! Just picked up a Fujifilm X-T50 and I'm looking for lens recommendations. Currently have the kit lens but want to upgrade for better image quality and versatility. Mainly shoot street photography, portraits, and some landscapes. Budget is around $300-600. I've been considering the 35mm f/2 or maybe the 18-55mm f/2.8-4. What's your experience with these or other lenses? Any must-have glass for this camera? Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

The X-T50 really shines with Fuji's excellent lens lineup. For everyday shooting, I'd highly recommend the XF 35mm f/2 - it's compact, sharp, and perfect for street photography and portraits. If you want something more versatile, the XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4 kit lens is actually fantastic despite being a "kit" lens. For portraits specifically, theXF 56mm f/1.2 is absolutely stunning, though it's on the pricier side. What kind of photography are you planning to do?

Just saw this thread and honestly, I'm basically in the same boat as you—just getting started with the X-T50! I've been geeking out on the technical side though, especially how that 40MP sensor needs *realy* good glass to look sharp. Before looking at specific gear, I had a couple of questions to see what's the best value for your cash: 1. Are you open to buying used gear? You can get much better technical specs for $600 if you go the second-hand route instead of brand new.
2. Do you feel limited by the "speed" (the f-stop) of your current kit lens when you're shooting portraits, or are you mostly just looking for a different focal length for street stuff? Asking because some of the older lenses are cheaper but might not fully resolve all those megapixels, you know? It's a bit wierd how that works!

tbh i have been shooting fuji since the early days and it has been a bit of a letdown lately. i spent a ton of money on glass that i thought would be forever lenses but unfortunately most of them just look soft and mushy on these newer high-res sensors. it is a real bummer when you realize your expensive kit isnt performing like it used to... kinda makes me regret some of my older purchases. honestly though i am not gonna type out a whole list because this has been covered a million times already. just go to youtube and search for something like fuji 40mp lens rankings. there is a really good video from one of the big fuji reviewers that shows exactly which lenses actually resolve that sensor and which ones are a waste of money. i saw it a few weeks ago and it covers the budget stuff too. just check the fujifilm subreddit too, they have a massive buying guide in the sidebar that is way more detailed than what i can give you while im grabbing lunch. save your cash and do the research there first so you dont end up disappointed like i was.
