Just picked up the new OM SYSTEM OM-1 II and need recommendations for memory cards. Planning to shoot high-res mode frequently plus some 4K video recording. Should I prioritize write speed over capacity? I'm considering either dual fast SD cards or mixing one high-speed card with a slower backup. What minimum write speeds do you recommend for the computational photography features? Also wondering if certain brands play better with Olympus/OM SYSTEM cameras than others. Budget is flexible for performance.

Honestly, I’m gonna go against the grain a bit here. Everyone jumps straight to the most expensive V90s, but you gotta look at the actual market data for these controllers. Some of the "pro" brands have had major firmware compatibility issues lately that users are overlooking just for the name. Plus, if youre not shooting All-I video 24/7, you might be overpaying for speed the OM-1 II buffer can already handle. I’ve found that mixing card speeds is usually a recipe for frustration. If you put a slower card in slot 2 for "backup," the whole system basically chokes to that slower speed during write-heavy tasks like high-res. Not ideal for a flagship body. Just to narrow it down—are you planning to run the slots in "Backup" mode or just use the second for overflow? Also, what specific 4K bitrates are you aiming for? Knowing if youre hitting those 400Mbps peaks or sticking to standard bitrates really changes whether the massive price jump to top-tier cards makes sense from a practical standpoint.

Look for V90 speed class cards, as they offer the necessary write speeds for computational photography features and buffer clearing. Brands like Sony Tough G, SanDisk Extreme Pro, Lexar Professional, Kingston Canvas React Plus, ProGrade Digital, and Delkin Devices Power are highly recommended and generally perform well with OM SYSTEM cameras. A minimum write speed of 260-300 MB/s is excellent for optimal performance.
