I recently upgraded to the Nikon Z8 and I'm looking to pair it with a great flash. I'm hoping to get some recommendations from those who have experience with this camera or similar Nikon mirrorless models.
I mainly shoot events and portraits, so I'm looking for something versatile. Any insights on flash features that work particularly well with the Z8's capabilities would be greatly appreciated.
The new released Godox V1 Pro is a great choice with a budget price.
For professional work, I can't recommend the Profoto A10 enough - it's currently one of the best on/off camera flashes in the world. The Profoto A10 is versatile and powerful with a long battery life of 2 years, providing reliable performance for extended shooting sessions. Yes, it's expensive, but you buy top brands like Profoto and yes you'll pay more but they work with the Z8/Z9 and provide a host of other benefits. The build quality and color consistency are unmatched.
For travel, I use Nikon SB5000s with WR-R11a/WR-T10 remote control, offering lightweight power and radio control. I also use it for macro photography with a diffuser. Some worry about the Z8 connection, but I've had no issues.
For portraits, I prefer the more powerful Godox ad200 Pro with XPro-N trigger. I have four units for versatile lighting angles and power settings.
Both systems are user-friendly in my experience.
I use the Godox AD200 Pro II with the Nikon trigger. Works great for me. Recommended.
If you are looking for off camera flash, the Godox AD200 Pro II is the best choice.
