I recently got my hands on the Nikon Z8, and I'm planning a trip around Europe next month. I'm looking for recommendations on the best travel lens to pair with this camera. I want something versatile that can handle landscapes, street photography, and maybe some portraits. Ideally, it should be lightweight and compact for easy carrying. For a budget-friendly option that doesn't compromise on quality, check out the Nikkor Z 28-400mm f/4-8 VR. It offers an incredible zoom range in a relatively compact package, perfect for travelers who want to carry just one lens. The variable aperture is a trade-off, but the built-in VR helps in low-light situations.

For a versatile travel lens, I'd highly recommend the NIKKOR Z 24-120mm f/4 S. It's got a great zoom range that covers wide-angle for landscapes to short telephoto for portraits. The constant f/4 aperture is nice for low light, and it's relatively compact for its range. I've used it extensively in Europe and it handled everything from narrow streets to wide vistas beautifully.

Have you considered the NIKKOR Z 28-75mm f/2.8? It's a bit faster than the f/4 lenses, which can be handy for low-light situations and creating background blur for portraits. It's also relatively compact for a f/2.8 zoom. The focal range is great for travel, covering wide angles for landscapes and reaching into short telephoto for portraits. It's a fantastic all-purpose lens that won't weigh you down during your European adventure.
