Are there any free alternatives to Keepa for tracking Amazon prices?

I am honestly so sick of Keepa and how they literally hide everything useful behind that subscription now. I remember when you could actually see the sales rank and the buy box history for free but now its like they want 20 bucks a month just to see a basic graph and i just cant justify that right now. Im trying to get into flipping some vintage lego sets and a few tech gadgets on the side to help pay for my car insurance but my budget is basically zero since I havent made a sale yet this month. It is just so frustrating when every tool worth using is subscription based these days.

Are there actually any decent alternatives that dont cost a dime? Im looking for:

  • price history charts that go back at least a few months
  • sales rank tracking (this is the big one keepa hides)
  • maybe some kind of alert system when prices drop
  • browser extension that works on chrome

I tried CamelCamelCamel but it feels kinda clunky and sometimes the data is way off compared to what im seeing live on the amazon page. I just need something reliable so i dont get stuck with inventory that wont move or lose money on a bad buy. Is there anything else out there or am i just stuck paying for keepa...

Re: "Finding free data that actually matters like sales..." - yeah, it is a total pain. I spent a few weeks trying to build a custom scraper for tech gadgets last year when I was flipping older Dell Latitude laptops, mostly because I didnt want to pay the sub. Honestly, Amazons bot detection is a nightmare and blocked my home IP twice. I eventually settled on a combo that works okay for my flipping side gig.

  • Helium 10 Chrome Extension: The free version shows the BSR (sales rank) and price history right on the page. It is much cleaner than Camel.
  • Honey: Better for the alert system when prices drop on specific Lego sets. It is not as deep as the paid Keepa data, but it gets the job done for basic arbitrage. Just watch the BSR refreshes on the free tools tho... they tend to lag by a few hours compared to the live page data.

@Reply #2 - good point! Honestly, building a scraper is cool but it is such a massive time sink and usually breaks when Amazon changes their code anyway. It is really disappointing how everything useful is behind a paywall now. I have had issues with almost every free alternative lately because they just cant keep up with the data speed Keepa has. I tried using a few different tools to save some cash when I was starting out:

  • Honey (good for alerts, bad for rank)
  • PricePulse (kind of buggy lately tho)
  • Glass It (mostly just for price tracking) Unfortunately, none of them really nail that sales rank history like we need for flipping. It makes things so much harder when you are trying to be careful with your budget. It really feels like the golden age of free seller tools is basically over. Are you mostly looking for the historical rank graph to see those seasonal spikes, or do you just need the current rank to see if it is moving at all? Also, are you scouting on desktop or using a mobile app while you are out at thrift stores? If I know your setup I might be able to suggest a specific workaround or a lesser-known extension that still has a decent free tier. Hang in there tho, the first few sales are always the hardest to get moving but it gets easier once you have some capital.

Finding free data that actually matters like sales rank is getting tougher. Keepa pretty much cornered the market there. CamelCamelCamel is the obvious freebie but like you mentioned it can be buggy and misses the deep sales rank data which is a dealbreaker for flipping. You should check out the Helium 10 free extension. It gives you a basic graph and some rank info without the huge monthly bill, though they do limit how many searches you can do daily. Just be careful with free data though. A lot of these free tools scrape data less frequently than the paid ones. If you are flipping tech or vintage Lego, a 24-hour delay in price or rank updates can literally be the difference between making a profit and sitting on dead stock for months. Always cross-reference with the actual Amazon listing to see how many sellers are really there. Definitely try PriceDropCatch if youre waiting for a specific price point on a laptop or something expensive.
