What are the must-have accessories for a new Sony Alpha camera?

So I finally pulled the trigger on an A7IV after shooting Nikon DSLRs for basically a decade and the eye AF is blowing my mind but I feel like a total noob with the actual kit. I have a wedding shoot up in Lake Tahoe next Thursday and I just realized my old SD cards are way too slow for the 10-bit video settings so I am lowkey panicking right now. My logic was that I could just adapt all my old glass and be fine but the balance is weird and I feel like I am missing some sony specific essentials. I already spent most of my savings on the body so I have maybe $400 left to get fully work ready.

I was looking at stuff and got overwhelmed:

  • do I really need V90 cards or can I get away with V60 for 4k 24p?
  • is a peak design strap worth the hype or is it just a brand thing?
  • should I get a cage for the heat issues or is that mostly an A7SIII thing?

I am also worried about the sensor being so exposed when I change lenses because there is no mirror anymore and I have seen some horror stories about dust getting in there during field swaps. Should I get one of those rocket blowers or something more heavy duty for the field? I just need to make sure I dont forget anything vital before I head out because the nearest camera shop to the venue is like two hours away and I am on a super tight timeline...

Unfortunately, adapting glass is not as good as expected for fast wedding work.

> do I really need V90 cards or can I get away with V60 for 4k 24p? Honestly, I had a total nightmare scenario last year where I tried to save a few bucks on cards during a high-stakes shoot. Unfortunately, the buffer just couldnt keep up when the action got intense. It basically ruined the ceremony for me because I was staring at a writing to card screen while the couple was walking back down the aisle. Not a great feeling. For weddings, reliability is everything and I really regret trying to cut corners there. Just get some SanDisk SD Cards or Sony SD Cards and call it a day... dont risk it. As for the strap... I have tried those cheap knockoffs and they are just not as good as expected. One of mine literally snapped at the plastic clip once. Now I just stick with anything from Peak Design because my gear is worth way more than a cheap bit of nylon. Better safe than sorry when youre working a 10 hour day.
