Like someone mentioned, expecting a discount on a pro body like the Canon EOS R1 this early is basically a pipe dream. It drives me crazy how these companies keep hiking prices while the actual hardware jumps feel smaller every year. Honestly, the whole flagship market is starting to feel like a bit of a scam lately.
- Canon keeps their prices locked down tighter than a vault, unlike Nikon who at least throws a bone sometimes on older Z models.
- Youre paying over six grand for a body with a stacked sensor and they still charge a premium for every tiny accessory.
- Its ridiculous how were expected to just swallow these MSRPs when the competition is pushing the tech envelope just as hard for less money. Id be really careful about deals from shady sites too. If its not full price, its probably a grey market trap with no warranty. Just a frustrating time to be a pro photographer tbh.

Hey! Honestly, based on my decades of tracking Canon's flagship releases, I'd seriously caution against expecting major Black Friday or Cyber Monday 2025 deals for the EOS R1. These top-tier bodies, especially in their first year, almost never see deep discounts or enticing bundles. You might get a minor gift card, but a significant price drop? Highly unlikely. They're simply too in-demand. I would suggest budgeting for full MSRP.
