I've been looking to pick up a pair of Jordan 1 Retro Royals (the 2017 release) for my younger brother because he's graduating in about three weeks and he's been obsessed with them forever. I have about $420 saved up specifically for this, but man, trying to track what these things actually sell for is driving me a little crazy. I’ve spent the last few nights just staring at price charts and I feel like I'm getting mixed signals everywhere.
I checked out StockX first obviously since their UI is pretty clean for data, but I read a few threads on Reddit saying their graphs are sometimes inflated because they include canceled sales or some weird outliers that don't represent what people are actually paying. Then I went over to GOAT and looked at their last sold data, which feels a bit more grounded, but their historical charts are kind of a pain to read on mobile and they don't seem to show the same volume as other sites. It's confusing because one site says the trend is dipping while the other shows a massive spike in the last month for a size 10.5.
I even tried looking at PriceLeak and some of those aggregate sites but some of their data seems outdated or they pull from eBay listings that haven't even ended yet which isn't helpful for actually seeing the settled price. I really dont want to overpay by like $50 just because I'm looking at a skewed graph. I'm trying to be smart with my money here since that 400ish is a lot for me right now and I need to make sure I get these in time for the ceremony in mid-June.
Does anyone know which platform actually has the most honest price history? Like is there a specific site that filters out the fake/canceled sales or maybe an app that aggregates everything more accurately than the big players? I just need to know if I should pull the trigger now or if the dip I'm seeing on one site is actually real...
Over the years, Ive found that eBay sold listings are the most honest way to track prices. Most app charts are inflated and dont show what people actually pay, honestly.
