Hey everyone! I finally pulled the trigger on the DJI RS 3, but the stock packaging just isn't cutting it for field work. I’m looking for a solid carrying case that can fit the gimbal, the RavenEye transmitter, and extra cables without being massive. I’ve checked out a few hard-shell options from brands like PGYTECH, but I'm worried about the overall weight for long shoot days. I really need something with precise pre-cut foam so the arms don't shift during transport. Does anyone have a specific case they swear by for daily use or air travel? What are you guys using to keep your setup safe and organized on the go?

Totally agree! Ngl, the Lykus RS1 Water Resistant Travel Case is a total budget steal compared to the pricey PolarPro Boreal 50L Backpack for keeping things light while traveling!

I've used HPRC for years—it's highkey the best for precision-cut foam that actually protects the motors. Seconding the recommendation above. Basically, the tech difference is foam density; high-density EVA holds the gimbals geometry so the arms dont knock together. I'm really happy with the HPRC2500 Hard Case for DJI RS 3. Its a specialized resin shell thats way lighter than most hard cases but still waterproof. Works well for me! 👍

Ok so, in my experience, I totally get the struggle of trying to find a case that doesnt feel like youre carrying a literal boulder. Ive tried a bunch of setups over the years, and for the DJI RS 3, you really want that custom foam to keep those arms from rattling around and messing up your calibration.
Here is what I recommend based on what I’ve actually used in the field:
• Nanuk 915 Hard Case for DJI RS 3: This is honestly the gold standard. I swear by Nanuk because their latches are way easier on the fingers than Pelicans. The foam is insanely precise—it fits the gimbal, the DJI RavenEye Image Transmission System, and even has slots for extra cables. It’s a bit heavy, but it’s basically bulletproof for air travel.
• PGYTECH Safety Carrying Case for DJI RS 3: This one is super sleek and high-quality. Its actually a bit more compact than the Nanuk, but still offers that hard-shell protection you need for daily field work. The build quality is top-tier, tho it can feel a bit bulky after 10 hours on your feet.
• Smatree Carrying Case for DJI RS 3: If you’re highkey worried about weight, this is a semi-rigid option. Its way lighter than the hard plastic cases but still has the molded slots so the arms dont shift.
I personally stick with the Nanuk cuz I travel a lot and I dont trust baggage handlers with my gear lol. The peace of mind is SO worth the extra pound or two. Good luck with the new rig!! 👍
