Just picked up the X-S20 and looking for lens suggestions to build out my kit. Currently have the kit 18-55mm but want to expand for different shooting scenarios - portraits, street photography, maybe some travel work. I'm drawn to Fuji's prime lenses but also considering some of their zoom options. Budget is around $300-800 per lens. What lenses have you found work particularly well with the X-S20? Any standouts for image quality or versatility? Would love to hear your experiences and recommendations!
Just got my X-S20 last month! If you're just starting out, I'd highly recommend the XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4 kit lens if you don't already have it. It's surprisingly sharp and versatile. My other go-to is the XF 35mm f/2 - perfect for everyday shooting, super compact, and the weather sealing is a nice bonus. Budget-friendly and delivers great results!
Don't overlook the older XC lenses! The XC 35mm f/2 is optically identical to the XF version but plastic build = way cheaper. Also check out third-party options: TTArtisan makes some fun manual focus primes, and the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 is incredible value. The X-S20's focus peaking makes manual lenses totally usable too.
For portraits on the X-S20, you can't go wrong with the XF 56mm f/1.2. Yes, it's a bit pricey, but the bokeh is absolutely dreamy. If budget is tight, the Viltrox 56mm f/1.4 is a solid alternative at half the price. I also love the XF 50mm f/2for a more compact option - it's weather-sealed and the autofocus is lightning fast with the X-S20's improved AF system.
If you're into wildlife or sports, the XF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 is fantastic on the X-S20. The stabilization combo (lens OIS + body IBIS) is incredible. For something faster, the XF 50-140mm f/2.8 is pro-level but heavy. The new XF 150-600mm is amazing if you have the budget. The X-S20's improved battery life really helps with these longer lenses.
