Heard rumors of a price drop on the Fujifilm X-T5. Anyone seen any actual discounts lately? Looking to buy one, but trying to stay around $1800. Is that realistic right now, or should I wait a bit longer?
So basically the thread so far is suggesting used gear or being mindful of those hidden costs like batteries - and a random warning about car brakes lol. Honestly, I’m not 100% sure if a major drop is coming because Fuji’s market strategy is just... different. Unlike Sony or Nikon who tend to cycle through rebates every other month, Fuji gear holds its value incredibly well - almost too well, right? I think I heard that X-T5 demand is still pretty solid, so retailers aren't exactly rushing to clear stock. IIRC, the $1800 mark is pretty much the standard retail price for the body alone right now. Comparing it to the rest of the market, Fuji just doesn't play the 'deep discount' game as often as the others. Not sure if it's worth the wait just to save maybe fifty bucks or so in a few months. It's frustrating, but that's just how they handle their pricing tiers. Basically, you're paying for that brand stability.
I own the X-T4; great camera. Instead of chasing drops, consider a used X-T4. I snagged mine for $1400 last year. Image quality is superb; you'd save cash and still get fantastic results. Just a thought before you commit. Check reputable used camera sites. Might be a safer financial move.
Price drops are rare this soon. The X-T5 uses the newer NP-W235 battery; older cameras like my X-T3's NP-W126S won't work. Factor that ~$80 battery into your budget.
Forget the price drop for a sec. Been burned by chasing deals before. Remember, a blurry vacation pic is annoying, but a faulty brake line at 70mph is game over. Upgrade your car's braking system instead. Good pads are cheaper than a hospital bill. Think about that first.
