What are the must-have accessories for Leica SL2 and Panasonic S5?

Hey everyone! I’ve recently jumped into the L-mount system and have been alternating between my Leica SL2 for high-res stills and the Panasonic S5 for my video projects. It’s a fantastic combo, but I’m finding that my gear bag is becoming a bit of a mess with mismatched accessories. Since they share the same mount, I’m really trying to streamline my kit as much as possible.

I’m particularly curious about accessories that help bridge the gap between these two. For the SL2, I’ve noticed the battery life can be a bit thirsty, so I’m on the hunt for a reliable dual charger or external power solution that isn't too bulky. On the S5 side, I’m looking for a compact cage or handle setup that doesn't ruin the ergonomics but makes it easier to mount a small monitor for filming.

I’ve already invested in some solid Sigma and Lumix glass, but I'm feeling stuck on the 'smaller' essentials like which high-speed SD cards handle the SL2’s massive files best while remaining reliable for the S5’s 10-bit video. My budget is somewhat flexible, but I definitely value build quality over just buying the cheapest option available. What are the absolute must-have accessories you’d recommend to someone running this dual-body setup?

I'd actually suggest a different approach—external power is pretty risky for ur sensors!! For safety, stick to: * Leica BP-SCL6 Lithium-Ion Battery
* Sony TOUGH-G series SDXC UHS-II 128GB Stay safe! 👍

Hey! Saw this earlier but just now responding... Honestly, running the SL2 and S5 combo is a pro move, but I totally get the struggle with different batteries and gear. In my experience, streamlining is all about finding that middle ground between Leica's over-engineered stuff and Panasonic's utility. For the SL2's battery issues, skip the official Leica dual charger because it's way too bulky and overpriced tbh. - **Option A (Travel):** Grab the Nitecore ULSL Dual-Slot USB Travel Charger for Leica BP-SCL4. It's super light and runs off any USB source. - **Option B (Field Power):** I'd actually recommend an Anker 737 Power Bank (PowerCore 24K). The S5 can run on PD power while filming, and you can top off ur SL2 batteries in the bag between sets. Regarding the S5 cage, the SmallRig Camera Cage for Panasonic LUMIX S5 2983 is the standard, but since you value build quality, the Kondor Blue Panasonic S5 Cage with Top Handle is much better. It feels way more solid and matches the SL2's premium vibe better than cheap aluminum. For SD cards, you basically gotta have UHS-II to keep up with the SL2’s buffer and the S5's 400Mbps 10-bit files:
- **The "Buy Once" Choice:** Sony TOUGH-G series SDXC UHS-II 128GB V90. Indestructible. - **The Value Pro Choice:** ProGrade Digital SDXC UHS-II V60 Gold 256GB. V60 is plenty fast for the S5's video and saves you sooo much money compared to V90 cards while staying reliable. I’d go with the ProGrade cards and the Kondor Blue cage. They’re high-end enough that they wont feel like "cheap" accessories next to ur Leica. gl!
