Just picked up my Leica M11 and I’m beyond stoked! Given the price tag, I want to protect it while keeping the handling smooth. I’m especially curious about the best UHS-II cards and whether a thumb grip is actually necessary. What specific accessories do you guys think are absolute essentials for a new M11 setup?

Seconding the recommendation above. Haoge is basically the same thing but wayyy cheaper. Paying 250 bucks for the brand name is kinda wierd... 1. High-res files clog buffers, so get a Sony 128GB SF-G Tough Series UHS-II SDXC V90.
2. Lens repairs are pricey, so use a B+W 39mm Master 007 Clear Filter so you dont scratch your glass. It realy saves money!!

I would suggest: Haoge THB-M11B Thumb Grip ($40) vs Leica ($250). Haoge is cheaper but reliable. Best choice. Same for Lexar Professional 1667x 128GB SDXC UHS-II vs SanDisk. gl!

Before I give advice, can you clarify if ur planning to shoot mostly 60MP DNGs or will you be downsampling? It totally changes the technical requirements for the buffer clearing times. In my experience over the years, it's always a trade-off:
1. Internal Storage vs SD Cards: The internal memory has way higher bus speeds. SD cards offer capacity but can throttle the system if they aren't top-tier. I find using internal for primary writes is best.
2. Thumb Grip vs Baseplate: Thumb grips improve one-handed ergonomics, while baseplates balance the center of gravity with heavy glass. I prefer the thumb grip for a lighter setup.
3. Screen Guard vs Naked: Guards protect against micro-abrasions but can slightly affect contrast. Ngl, a high-quality glass one is the best middle ground for peace of mind. it really comes down to ur workflow... gl!
