Which neck strap is best for heavy Leica SL2 lenses?

I've recently fully committed to the Leica SL2 system, and while I’m absolutely in love with the image quality from the 24-90mm Vario-Elmarit and the 50mm Summilux, my neck is definitely feeling the burn. That 24-90mm is a beast! After a three-hour street session yesterday, I realized the stock strap just isn't designed for that kind of weight over long periods.

I’ve been looking at a few options like the Peak Design Slide or some thicker leather options from brands like Rock n' Roll or Arte di Mano, but I’m worried about either the bulk or the lack of padding. I really want something that distributes the weight better so it doesn't feel like the camera is digging into my cervical spine by noon. Also, I’m a bit paranoid about the lugs—since the SL2 and this glass are a heavy investment, I need something with secure attachments that won't fail under load.

Do you guys have any specific recommendations for straps that make carrying these heavy SL lenses more manageable during a full day of shooting? Is a wider neoprene strap the way to go for comfort, or should I stick with a high-quality padded leather one to keep the aesthetic?

> That 24-90mm is a beast! For your situation, I totally feel u!! Honestly, for that much weight, you gotta go with the Op/Tech USA Super Classic Strap Pro Loop. I've used it for yearsss and the neoprene acts like a shock absorber for the SL2. It’s wayy better than leather for long days cuz it actually dampens the movement. The Peak Design Slide Camera Strap SL-BK-3 is also great and super secure for those lugs!! gl!

yo, been thinking about your neck pain all day lol. basically, with that SL2 and the 24-90, youre dealing with a ton of front-heavy weight. it matters cuz if it isnt comfy, you wont use that beautiful gear, but you dont need to spend $200 on a strap just cuz it matches the aesthetic. honestly, i had issues with those fancy leather straps... they look cool but were way too thin and stiff for me. not as good as expected for the price, ngl. pro tip: check out comparison guides on sites like Shotkit or the forums at Fred Miranda. theres a great resource there for heavy gear setups. i'd say just get any wide, padded sling from **BlackRapid** or maybe **SmallRig** if you wanna save cash. their stuff is way more practical than leather imo and actually protects your spine. gl!
