I recently picked up a used Lumix body and I’m looking to move beyond the basic kit lens without spending a fortune. I’m really interested in street photography and some occasional portraits, so I’ve been eyeing focal lengths around 25mm and 45mm. I’ve seen the Panasonic 25mm f1.7 and a few manual focus options from brands like 7artisans, but I’m a bit worried about sacrificing too much sharpness or autofocus speed. Since I’m on a tight budget of under $200 per lens, I want to make sure I’m getting the best value. Does anyone have a favorite 'hidden gem' prime that punches way above its weight class for M4/3?
Soo, moving to primes is huge cuz kit lenses basically kill your low-light shots. Wider apertures are lowkey essential for portraits, but unfortunately, I had issues with cheap manual glass—it wasn't as good as expected and was way too soft... probably cuz of poor QC?? * Panasonic Lumix G 25mm f/1.7 ASPH. (~$150)
* Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 45mm f/1.8 (~$199) They're kinda plasticky, but honestly they're the best budget value. Cheers!
